Mr. Paul is severely mistaken. Gandhi never threatened to kill anyone who attempted to arrest him. Those nutjobs in New Hampshire are terminally deluded.

I can definitely get on board with a smaller Federal government...but this guy's like another Ross Perot--gone bananas! I don't ever remember hearing about MLK or Gandhi barricading himself with a bunch of guns, but I wasn't there.

Confused. Paul wasn't referring to the Browns - his Gandhi/Heroic comment was generalized to all tax protestors, most of whom are peaceful.

Our Founding Fathers were NOT so peaceful when they protested the illegal taxation imposed by England. While shooting federal agents is not the appropriate thing to do at this time, I support those who would challenge the income tax laws as they amount to nothing more than theft and slavery, and can never be legitimate, no matter how many judges agree. zg

Fair enough...thanks for the clarification. Of course, image is reality...and he sure sounded like he was drawing that correlation.

Clarified above. Paul is the closest thing in a long time to a true Patriot candidate - eliminate the IRS, Federal Reserve, FDA, etc.

Paul is already a hero and when he loses the Republican Primary I'll expect him to be the Libertarian candidate for 2008. zg

    Ed and Elaine Brown Persevere
    Tuesday, 26 June 2007
    By Kat Kanning

Despite being surrounded by federal thugs in early June, despite tanks and helicopters around their property, despite having a friend shot at and arrested, despite having phone and electricity cut off, Ed and Elaine Brown persevere in their simple quest, asking the government to show them the law which requires them to pay federal income taxes. The federal government has been unable to show the Browns the law. Instead they have responded with violence and theft. During the early June raid on the Browns, Elaine's businessplace in West Lebanon was seized. Still, the Browns continue to stand up for their rights.
    -------------
Elaine attempted to explain to reporters why they do not pay income taxes. The Browns have repeatedly asked the IRS to show them the law which requires them to pay the tax. To date, the IRS has refused to answer this simple question, either to the Browns or numerous others who have asked the same question. Elaine explained how Joe Banister while working as a Special Agent in the IRS Enforcement Division began researching claims about the lack of a law requiring people to pay an income tax. It was his intent to show these people the law, but after years of research, he failed to find a law. When he brought these findings to his superiors, he was asked to resign from the IRS. Such a law does not exist because it is forbidden by the Constitution. The Browns encourage everyone who wishes to know more about the income tax to watch Aaron Russo's movie, Freedom to Fascism (freedomtofascism.com), which is available on the internet.

The Founders were the same people who, when drafting the Constitution, deliberately gave Congress a very broad taxing power because they knew that the main reason for the failure of the Articles of Confederation was that the central government didn't have the power to tax. They were also the same people who passed the Whiskey Tax immediately after the Constitution was adopted, and a certain Founder named Washington called out the troops to put down rebellious western Pennsylvania farmers who didn't want to pay the tax.

While you and others may object to the income tax on grounds of political philosophy, it would be wrong to maintain that it's illegal. Under our legal system, it's the courts who have the final say on matters of constitutional law, unless and until they are overturned by a constitutional amendment (which has happened 3 times) or unless or until the Supreme Court reverses itself (which has happened more frequently). To continue to argue the legality of the income tax after the courts have consistently upheld it for the last 94 years is a bit like arguing that it's illegal for the States to not be permitted to have racially sergregated public facilities, regardless of what the courts say.

They've been shown the law; they just won't accept it because it conflicts with their preconceived notions of what they think the law ought to be. Incidentally, the Browns have also refused to pay their New Hampshire property taxes. Do they also believe there's no law requiring them to pay that kind of tax?

This is exactly why most (but not all) protesters lose in court - not because there is a law, but because the judge doesn't allow the law to be dissected for the jury and the prosecutor tells the jury "He didn't pay his share." Its typically a kangaroo court.

Go back and read my Joe Bannister Acquitted article, here -
Federal Income Tax - Mandatory? Voluntary? Is it even legal?

And then read Joe's 50-page report. This is the report that Joe served on the IRS when he resigned as one of its criminal investigators. He is a CPA tax-specialist by trade -
    http://www.quatloos.com/bannisterreport.pdf

Bottom line: There is NO LAW that makes federal income tax mandatory. Its a fraud foisted upon the American people.

BTW, do you know how your federal income tax dollars are spent? On what? zg

    Joseph Banister
    1) BIO/BACKGROUND
Joseph R. Banister is believed to be the first Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division Special Agent ever to discover alleged wrong-doing in the administration and enforcement of the federal income tax and then confront his superiors and top officials in the IRS about those allegations and his belief that taxpayer rights were being violated. After confronting top IRS officials with the results contained in his investigative report, his inquiries were summarily rebuffed and he was encouraged to resign. He resigned on February 25th, 1999. Mr. Banister is a graduate of San Jose State University. He became a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1991 but left the practice of public accounting in 1993 to accept appointment to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, IRS Criminal Investigation Division, as a Special Agent (Criminal Investigator). In addition to his investigative duties as a sworn federal law enforcement officer, Mr. Banister was the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (O.C.D.E.T.F.) and Asset Forfeiture Coordinator for the IRS Central California District. He also assisted with firearms and defensive tactics training, as well as community outreach. Since leaving the IRS, Mr. Banister has worked closely with Bob Schulz and the We The People Foundation to pressure our elected representatives to investigate and correct the deceitful and often destructive tactics used by the agency against innocent, hard-working Americans.

    2) COMMENTS ON HEARING/EVIDENCE
If each American takes the time, as I did, to investigate the way in which the IRS administers and enforces the federal income tax, I believe the evidence will absolutely shock their conscience and cause them to immediately join the effort to end this terrible blight on the American tradition of liberty and justice for all.

I appreciate the reading materials, but I'd rather not sort through all that. I don't know where all of my Fed income tax dollars go, and if I did, it would make me puke

That being said, reform needs to take place at the Federal level and more money needs to be focused locally, in my opinion. Most of the money that makes it to our local communities from the Feds gets funneled, chopped, skimmed, etc. and its true effectiveness is only a fraction.

Paul's concepts about slimming down the Federal Gov't are nice to hear, but how is he any different that Republicans or Democrats that are way on one side of the spectrum?

Simply stated, what makes Paul different is that he is a bona fide constitutionalist.

Those reads simply underscore that there is NO LAW that compels mandatory income tax.

As for where your income tax dollars go, its only to one thing - to pay the interest on US debt to the Federal Reserve. Nothing else.

And, did you know that at the time of your birth your birth certificate essentially pledged your corpus as chattle to the international banking matrix? zg

    Just the opposite, actually.

And the federal courts have proven highly corrupted on this matter. zg

Better read the Constitution again. There's only one thing (exports) that Congress is forbidden to tax. Everything else is fair game. As Thomas Jefferson said when writing to a friend after the Constitution had been adopted:

"I approved, from the first moment, of the great mass of what is in the new Constitution: the consolidation of the government; the organization into executive, legislative, and judiciary; the subdivision of the legislative; the happy compromise of interests between the great and little States by the different manner of voting in the different Houses; the voting by persons instead of States; the qualified negative on laws given to the executive, which, however, I should have liked better if associated with the judiciary also, as in New York; and the power of taxation. I thought at first that the latter might have been limited. A little reflection soon convinced me it ought not to be."
