When enough (future) money becomes even remotely at risk, especially future earnings in the "entertainment" industry, then the 21st century goon squads (attorneys) will be deployed to COERCE you to remove whatever it is they deem a threat.
Will they club you into submission with "the law" ??? That's the million dollar question.
For now, I say stand your ground. But beware, these guys probably troll for "billable hours".
    I (we) will stay tuned.

Good and relevant points. Those are called SLAPPs.
There is emerging law to deal with 'SLAPPs'*

*Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (wikipedia)
A strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP) is a lawsuit that is intended to censor, intimidate, and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition. The typical SLAPP plaintiff does not normally expect to win the lawsuit. The plaintiff's goals are accomplished if the defendant succumbs to fear, intimidation, mounting legal costs or simple exhaustion and abandons the criticism. A SLAPP may also intimidate others from participating in the debate. A SLAPP is often preceded by a legal threat. The difficulty is that plaintiffs do not present themselves to the Court admitting that their intent is to censor, intimidate or silence their critics.

[Editor's note: 5/15/2013: We have added the attorney letter to this thread, HERE. We also feel that its appropriate to add that Fertittas' attorney is adamant about two things (just to keep things "fair and balanced"): 1.) The history of Fertittas and the Sicilian Maceo brothers, who it says ran illegal rackets and gambling in Galveston through the late 50s, as described in the subject article penned by a "Scoop McTroll" posted herein, is less than accurate and described by them as a "pack of lies"; 2. That the author "Scoop McTroll" appears to be a pseudonym and the Fertittas' counsel advises that no one should take seriously something written anonymously on the Internet, or thereabouts. Further, the original Scoop McTroll article, as originally posted to www.Sherdog.net, has been taken down. Readers be so advised.]

    Default The Truth Hurts

The Fertitta Brothers not only want to hide their mafia history, they NEED to. The Nevada Gaming Control Board is allegedly already giving them a hard time about my work to expose their past (according to their lawyer). I had a very popular story taken off Bleacher Report a few months ago:

    http://web.archive.org/web/201210181...s-royal-family

I never had any of that content formally challenged by any lawyer or rep. for the Fertittas. The last hearing I had in my legal case against the Fertittas in bankruptcy court (see www.xyiencesucks.com) featured a sob story from the Fertitta lawyer about how much pain I've caused the brothers with my reporting. Yet, they have never asked me to correct anything they feel is misleading or false on any of my sites.

My latest bit of investigation surrounds the car crash that killed Frank Fertitta Jr.'s former business partner Carl Thomas before he could testify in front of Missouri Gaming officials. I am obtaining the full police report and other documentation regarding his autopsy. I just spoke to the sheriff of the county where the crash occurred in 1993, and he indicated there was no evidence of any foul play. However, the responding officer died of a heart attack in 1995 and no tox screen was ever done. Thomas was only tested for alcohol, and that test was negative. They did find cocaine on him, but there was never any effort to determine where he procured the drug. Since he met with Station Casino Executives shortly before the crash, it is certainly plausible that he was under a great deal of stress at the time. If he was threatened or in fear of some possible retaliation for what he could say to Missouri officials, it might explain his reckless driving. The only way the Fertittas could have been in any way responsible for the crash is if they somehow made sure he had to drive a long way home and made sure he had all the drugs he needed. There's no evidence of any of that, so to me the accident remains a convenient end to the life of Thomas just in time to save the Fertittas from whatever incriminating evidence Thomas might reveal.

If anyone has any direct information regarding the Fertittas, fraud, and corruption, please contact me. Meanwhile, check out www.xyiencesucks.com for updates to the series and news about my book now in progress.

    Rich Bergeron!
ZG, this is the guy that started all this brouha about mafia family origins of Fertittas.
Now we got trouble at zzone - I'm calling Counselor Krieger!

Funny, no boo hoo complaints from cousin Tilman Fertitta, the world's richest restaurant owner and "sole shareholder" (ya right?) of Landry's.

    Fuhgettaboutit

    From Wikipedia -

[Tilman Fertitta's] family includes Sam and Rosario Maceo who rose from humble beginnings to become prominent in Galveston's notorious nightlife scene in the mid-1900s before branching out to Las Vegas, Nevada. His cousins are Station Casinos owners Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta. Tilman Fertitta joined the ranks of casino owners himself when Landry's purchased the historic Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas as well as the location in Laughlin, Nevada.

    From Forbes -

Tilman Fertitta is barely past the first of his many morning cups of coffee and the first ten minutes of our meeting when he decides, as is his wont, to take control. As soon as I break out my tape recorder, he picks it up and places it on top of a paper cup, within wrist-snapping distance, turning it off and on during our discussion as he deems fit. Having noticed poor lighting on another floor, he dispatches a passing employee to fix it. When I ask the 55-year-old to tell me about how he got started, he admonishes me in his thick Texas twang: “I’ve overread that story. I just hate to go that far back.” So we don’t, for now, because as Fertitta later tells me, laughing, “I do whatever the f–k I want.”
Most of the time Fertitta, the 100% owner of Landry’s, wants to gobble up hospitality businesses: specifically, poorly managed, out-of-date and distressed restaurants, hotels, casinos and boardwalks that he can buy on the cheap, often right out of bankruptcy court.

Again, trouble makers: Fertittas' lawyer John Krieger was adimant:
"Scoop McTroll's history of Fertittas is nothing but a pack of lies."
"The dogs bark but the caravan moves on."
