What does everyone think? Should we delte it, simply because they have demanded it with implied threat?
Personally I do not think it is slanderous to anyone living, except perhaps the late Frank Fertitta Jr. who's Wiki entry is currently spotless -

    Default Sam Maceo

At this point, I only wish to ask a question.
when you google Sam Maceo, it references two clubs, one being the Balinese.
    Where was the other.....Biloxi ????

The Wiki stuff on Big Sam Maceo is a good read... Are they suing Wiki as well? LOL. If they are such huge Drama Queens about some repost in the Gud Ol Zen Zone, I truly wonder about these dudes. Haven't they got anything better to do with their time and lawyers? Get a life! And frankly, I'm not surprised at the power of the ZZ, which can make grown men cry and tremble in their Sicilian boots. And I just heard the Vatican is after me too, for all that anti-Catholic stuff I put here. Italians, Germans, Sicilians... they're all the same... mostly full of bluff, blather and hot air, just like their threats.

They don't represent the Maceo family, only the younger scions of the Fertitta family and biz empire.

I am hoping to resolve this amicably with the Fertittas, et al., as I impressed upon their attorney yesterday.

I don't think so. But there were several clubs in Galveston,
possibly the biggest single illegal gambling venue of its time, bigger than Hot Springs Ar.

Maybe it is time for someone to update Frank Jr.'s wikipedia entry?

Let's not speak ill of the departed. Regardless of what unique family origins Frank Fertitta Jr. brought with him to Vegas, he did great things and helped many people. Here is a wonderful obit from 2009 Las Vegas Sun about his stellar business and philanthropic accomplishments -

The publicity-shy Fertitta will be remembered
for both his vision and his philanthropy as a
businessman, turning a small casino just off the
Strip into a casino empire that catered to locals
while most of his counterparts focused on
tourists, and then pouring much of his profit
into schools, charities and medical research.
Over the years he has donated millions of
dollars to UNLV, the Clark County School
District and one of his favorite beneficiaries,
Bishop Gorman High School, which his children
    and grandchildren attended.

“Frank was one of the most successful businesspersons
in the history of Las Vegas — and one of the

great philanthropists of our community,” Las Vegas
Mayor Oscar Goodman said. “He was a very

special guy, a class act. He was sophisticated,
quiet and unassuming, a master businessman.”

“He and his family have built a great legacy in our state’s
resort and gaming industry,” Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid said. “Frank has always been a leader
in giving back to the community and I am
proud to see his sons, Frank III and Lorenzo, follow in
their father’s footsteps. My sympathies go out to
the entire Fertitta family as they mourn the loss of a great man.”

Former Nevada Gov. Bob Miller said Fertitta was “one of the
    most community-minded and generous
men in Las Vegas history,” who made Las Vegas
“a better place for others and their families.”

Attaboy... ZZ is known far and wide for its amicable. Amicable abounds here. Amicable Amigos.
That's why a below-ego apology and demonstration or two of the like above is likely more than enough for byegones to be byegones, fugedaboudit and everyone can take their bat and ball and go home, no hard feelins. And I promised as well never to ever insult the Vatican again.

And from a Siddha Yoga Lesson, here is some ancient advice from the Vedic tradition:

"Baba Muktananda's teaching was always simple, and will be simple. If you look at the teachings of all the great beings, they're so simple. In simplicity there's humility; in humility there's divinity. Baba always said, 'Meditate on your own Self, worship your own Self, kneel to your own Self: God dwells within you as you. So drop the veil of the limited mind or the ego. See that divinity.'

I think something is really wrong here.

As you said the thread is just a paste and copy with a link to the original.

And there is still the First Amendment avaiable in the USA about the freedom of press.

The only problem I see here is that they really can be a physical threat, but not legal.
When you have eliminated all the impossible, whatever remains, however implausible, must be the logic truth...

I don't think there is any physical threat implied nor inherent.
But if they abuse the legal process to attempt enforcement of their will it would be a hassle for sure.
I asked them for a specific show of good faith, after which we could discuss an amicable resolution.

    Default Threat

I see this as the standard attorney ploy to use baseless threat of litagation to silence someone into surrendering their free speech rights American Heroes fought and died for since the 1700's.

I know Z-Man will stand up to these bullies as we all will back him to keep this site a beacon of free thought and exchange of information.

The curious thing is that the main story OP posted nearly 6 years ago was ONLY part-1, ending in 1960 with Frank Jr.'s arrival in Vegas to take a job at the Trop as a bellboy. We never thought to follow into parts 2-3-4 (until now). Does anyone care to speculate how a post that focuses on Galveston in the 40s-50s is somehow defamatory to the Fertittas today?

The Fertittas care. They appear to be denying that Anthony, Victor and Frank Sr. were ever involved with the Maceo family in the 40s and 50s?

Right, as an Australian, I came from a long line of convicts. I don't deny that, and at the same time how can I be responsible for the sins of my forebears (if in fact there were any sins...) I accept history and moved on, as we all ultimately must do, if we wish to seek some form of inner peace. Dudes, good luck with that...
