The first hand in a single deck game occurs every 7 hands on average. About 90% of the time, crucial PE or BC decisions come in the 6th (or 7th if there is one) round.

The A,10 account for 38.46% of the deck. So it's essential you mininize taking out these cards that bust you current hand when it could be the card that starts your next hand.

Thus the question for Don S.

    Default New Chip Demonination?

KJ writes:How do you disinfect cards, chips, dice, every time a player comes in contact with them? For Blackjack that would be after every hand?

Moses writes: Change out the chip tray at the same time you switch dealers? This allivates holding up the game twice. Once to check the tray. Once to exchange dealers. Have a set amount in the tray. Exchange. If tray is more? Casino made money. If less? They lost money. Simple. No?

The other would be to come up with a $20 chip. Bets could be paid on $20, $40, $60, $80 bets at 3.2 without the need for $1chips or $.50 cent pieces.

A $50 blue chip/table would be efficient if bets ending in $5 are not allowed.

Axel writes: for starters, it seems like there's going to be less people at the tables. If they decide to open up more tables and they have the same amount of customers and the same amount of Pit Bosses you might be alright. Guess we'll have to see exactly how they're going to go about everything. I believe it would be a lot easier for me to spot a card counter with less spots going out of table. I can usually spot on Advantage player a mile away.

Moses writes: It's more difficult to spot who isn't counting cards. These guys thinking they can compete with wild fluctions are kidding themselves. Gave over.

Very disconcerting. My Senior year we got beat on a buzzer beater to end our run at State by the team that eventually won it. I remember the feellng of being in the locker room that night of being exhausted and the ride was over. Much different than the two weekends before of exhaustion and the ride continues.

It would be a lifestyle change if/when this happens. So much has went into it. So many sacrifices made.

I started college at 17. I really wish Id had one more year in HS. We'd have dominated and won it all with the Big 3. Now only 2. But I worked my way into the starting lineup, was having a good year, but got injured the last game of the regular season. We lost in the first round to the team that won the NAIA Championship.

So I went home and watched my HS buddies at State lose in the semis. Sitting in the stands on crutches was very difficult.

Moral of the story. Sometime we dont get the big prize. Sometimes you have to move on. Sometimes we get hurt. Sometimes disappointed. But you have to keep moving forward.

Maybe the time is near to move on again. Damn, I really liked my life here.

Casino is a big part of my and the wife life,,the best times were spent there and actually the beauty of the drive going there so very often. Now I have to face a life that has changed maybe forever and I am getting very down and disturbed about the future,,and it is getting worse, thinking that maybe life itself is drawing to a close, but I still have the Grand Children.

Casinos will be open in my home state while only operating at 1/3 capacity here in the upcoming week. I don't live in a liberal state run by Democrats. Democratically run states have been shutdown the hardest with stay at home orders.

Eliot writes: Schlesinger's article on the I-18 was published in September 1986, (Blackjack Forum Vol. VI #3), so yes, exactly, Schlesinger published his article exactly when more indices were worth the effort.

Moses writes: I remember reading and bringing your article up at BJTF. It created a bit of a stir. I thought the article very well written and allowed a competitive player to arrive at their own conclusions. IMO, Don S is brilliant and has a tremendous work ethic that would be hard to top. Now Mr. S hasn't played 4 minutes of single deck in 40 years. But still has he allowed me to see the game from a different perspective. He still has untapped potential. I wish I could spend an hour with him and watch his mind go to work on unconventional methods and wisdom to gain further advantage than what I can achieve. Such as the original post in this thread..

But the bottom line is a player has to do what is best for their game. Conventional methods simply will not work in today's conditions for the single deck game. I'm not sure about DD games. But I would want to arm myself with more than HILO and ill18 to compete.

I tip my hat to both you and Don S because your knowledge has allowed competitive players to think outside the box.

Again, why the commotion between you two?

James Detroit wtites: Mouthing the count isn't something I've struggled with but there is an exercise I do that would likely help with that as well, if you want try it.

While running your counting drills, turn on music that you know the lyrics to and sing along; that'll keep your lips doing something other than mouthing the count, and also will give you practice doing something with your mouth and voice other than counting in general. I originally started doing it to help practice for carrying on a conversation with the dealer, pitboss, or other players while keeping the count, but I imagine it should help prevent accidentally mouthing the count as well by un-training your muscle memory, to separate your lips from the count.

Moses writes: Or simply wear a mask. Music is a good idea though. I would think the same songs (noise) in a casino. Not a whole lot of convseration anymore between masks and glass. Pit bosses are far more busy nowadays.
