Default Back to Playing Poker in a Bar

I got a new local hangout guys. A nice pub in town is running a poker game where they have two games a night on a certain night and they pay up to $100 for each game to the winner. This is a place I haven't been to before but the game and the players remain the same! It'll be nice to get out and to see what kind of poker players & card players I will find in this place. Every bar I've played and won at is different and this place shouldn't be much different from the old dumps I used to frequent back in the past. I just wonder if the poker players in this joint are dumber or smarter than what I've faced in the past locally. This bar is in a nicer part of the city and the players should be horrible, making all kinds of mistakes.

The last time I played poker with actual people in person was September of 2017 when I nearly kicked some guys ass in front of his old lady for running his mouth. I'm still as sharp as I ever was and my attitude & temper are equally as explosive whenever I decide to interject myself into their little friendly poker game.

Good luck with your venture Blitzer. I was talking to some guys tonight that were poker players. He'd gotten himself kicked out already. Out-of-towner vs local good ole boys. He'd given all the players nicknames and was trying to get in the head. I don't know boo about poker. But I thought at the time I should tell you this story. Then I get home and see you've checked in. Best of luck/skill to you.

Thanks Moses. This is just an attempt to meet some new people, to see some new faces that I haven't seen before. Besides, I like to see a lot of mistakes being committed by the people I'm playing against when they think they are doing nothing wrong. It amuses me while having a great time. It's nice to hear a story that the good ole' boys served up an out-of-towner and sent'em back with his tail tucked between his legs and only feeling his leg when he sticks his hands into his pockets.

Lately I've been fantasizing about working for a casino. It's nothing set in stone but the idea has creeped into my mind. I wanted to tell you Moses. I was thinking about a surveillance position, maybe an easy security position, or even a dealer of all people. By working surveillance I would be able to profile all of the blackjack dealers and learn their card playing habits. If I did work for a casino I wonder what type of employee I would be? An asset or a liability. With what's going on in my area I'm excited... casino action, booze, bimbos, and medical marijuana. If this place added a nice poker room it would be a nice touch that would attract poker players. I would have to move to this town if I was to pursue this endeavor because I hate driving an hour one way.

Blitzter: FWIW. I could see you being a manager of a poker room. You know the game and thus could keep peace from those stepping over the lines.

I could Moses but that's not a possibility at the moment as they do not have a poker room, but they used to. The addition of a poker room at this property would make it more appealing to help draw in poker players locally and from surrounding areas. The fun job would be the surveillance room. That way I would know and have a good understanding on how the casino thinks and protects it's games. Besides for profiling the dealers. I realize that taking such a position I would not be allowed to play the table games there other than poker if they had a poker room. I wonder if such people are placed in a database because I would still want to play in my area but just at other casinos. It's just a thought at the moment. I would more than likely have to stop smoking weed if I got serious about such an endeavor but I could buy fake urine to help me pass a drug test.

So much for the surveillance position Moses. That's okay though as I would rather see this casino get a live poker room. I've been thinking about letting them know that I would volunteer my services to help bring in a live poker room. This casino needs to offer some 7 Card Stud games with a preference on Stud Hi/Lo, especially with the busiest part of their season not to far away.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Everything to gain and nothing to lose. But I think you'd deserve something in return for your willingness to volunteer.

Of course it wouldn't be for free. It would be nice to have a poker room at a casino close to where I live. That way I wouldn't have to travel far away and being able to bring in a new poker room is an exciting thought. Either way, I don't see one coming right away.

Guys love to play poker. The poker rooms here always seem to be full and guys waiting for a table.
