Default Proof that it's still possible to lose your life in a card game.

I happened to stumble across this story just the other day. It's still possible that someone can lose their life over a card game.

Police: Man critically injured after losing gambler opens fire in Little Rock house

A 28-year-old Arkansas man was critically injured in a shooting at a Little Rock house Saturday night when a man who had earlier lost while gambling retrieved a gun and opened fire, authorities said.
Marquis Sledge was taken to UAMS Medical Center after being shot shortly before 8:30 p.m. at 3301 S. Polk St., according to a Little Rock Police Department report.
Officers found blood, shell casings and a gun in or around the shooting scene and later went to the hospital, where witnesses said the gunman lost while gambling at the residence and was "extremely unhappy," the report said. The man then left, retrieved a gun and came back in, shooting Sledge, police said.

Another man at the home fired "in self-defense," though it wasn't known if the gunman was hit, authorities said.
No arrests had been made at the time of the report. There was no update available on Sledge's condition Sunday. http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2...mbler/?f=crime

Default LRPD: 1 Man Critically Injured in Gambling Dispute Shooting

LITTLE ROCK -- A man is hospitalized after being shot Saturday (3/5) night at a home on South Polk Street.

28-year-old Marquis Sledge was listed in critical condition at the time of the police report early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened in the 3300 block of South Polk Street shortly after 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found blood on the ground and damage to the home from gunfire.

Officers also found a handgun near the scene.

Upon further investigation, police discovered the victim had been taken to a local hospital by private car.

The shooter is believed to be a man only referenced in the report as "Drea", according to the report.

Witnesses say Drea had become angry after a gambling loss, left the home, then returned with a gun and shot Sledge.

Another man inside the home used a gun as self defense during the shooting, according to police.

    The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Little Rock Police Department.
