Thread: I got a Crack in my Boat

Default I got a Crack in my Boat

Last night I was playing in a free roll poker tournamnet for some cash and I got my boat cracked during this one hand. Things were going fine and dandy after the second break and I had a decent amount of chips. The first hand after the break I pick up pocket JJ's and go all-in where everyone folds and I pick up all the blinds. The hand immediately after that I get pocked 10's, I call the big blind for 1K and then the betting action goes around and the guy to my right bets all-in, I think about it for a few seconds and then fold my pocket 10's, he showed me pocket AA's. I was thinking I'm glad I got away from that. About 4 hands later I get pocket 10's again but this time I'm in the big blind. The guy across from me goes all-in for 7K, everyone folds and the action comes around to me, I think for a few seconds and I call his bet, I had 14K.

I flip over my pocket 10's and he flips over KJ diamond suited. So it's 10,10 vs. KJ pre-flop. The first flop card in the window is a ten, the flop came 10, 4, J. At this time I'm feelin pretty good thinking my set will hold up and I know I'd have a great shot at going deeper in the tourney. The turn card comes another J. I'm like okay, now I got a full house and I'm still feeling good. The fucking river came K, which gave my opponent a bigger full house. He ran out on me. I was pissed off to say the least after the river card fell, just a little bit but nobody could tell. About 15 minutes later I was out of the tourney when I shoved with K,10 offsuit. It sucks flopping a set, then turning a full house, only to lose to a higher full house on the river.

When I get back home I turn on the TV and find a WPT show on and happen to catch the last 2 hands played. It was Freedy Deeb playing against another player on a WPT final table for the win/cash. The second to last hand was Freedy's JQ spade suited vs. pocket 10's (Freedy's opponents hand). The flop came J, 6, 10 where Freedy's opponent hits a set of 10's and they held up to the river. The last hand Freedy had was K,10 offsuit and he lost the tournament with that hand. I was thinking I nearly seen a bit of deja vu and how their 2 hands practically matched up with the hands I had last night. Seeing that left a bad taste in my mouth and pissed me off but it's just a card game.

I watch a lot of poker on TV, Poker After Dark is my favorite, I learn a lot but also see the bad beats and bluffs and very stupid plays by the greats. I know when I play anything can happen, and I am a tight player, I know luck is a big factor. I enjoy Poker, but a great BJ game with STing and CC and one or 2 other players that are positive, makes for a great night of thrills and enjoyment. I think these are some of life's little pleasures, and I do treasure them.

    Friend,

Me to CP. Lately I've been catching up on the WSOP main event action that took place earlier this summer that's On Demand. I've only watched 2 episodes so far, many more to go. Your right that anything can happen in poker. I feel confident in my poker game. I've won and have walked away with wins in every casino poker room I've ever played in and every club I've ever played at where they have poker and cash prizes. I'm looking to take another casino trip real soon.

What currency was that 14K? No insult, just doing a credit check.

Yeah, I did. I didn't pick up on the fact that chips were completely worthless. I'm glad you didn't lose 14K, but I hoped you had 14K to lose.

This statement by you shows your ignorance. A real poker game on a serious note... I wouldn't be using clay chips, players would be using 1 troy ounce Silver & Gold American Eagles. Now that would be a real poker game that's gonna hurt when someone loses. I've always dreamed of playing a poker game using real 1oz. gold & silver pieces. 500 ounces of silver minimum buy-in game, that would be awesome. That would be a real poker game. Who needs clay chips or paper dollars when players can play with the real deal?

I guess so. I don't refer to my 5,000 play chips in a promo tournament as 5K, or my $20 rebuy as losing 5K. I probably would have roughly indicated the prize money, the EV of my fake chips, and what round I was in. My ignorant mistake. I'm still completely ignorant as to whether you actually would have won anything if you won the fake chips, or if you were just angry because you're angry about everything.

How much cash is 14K worth? $28,000? $2.50?

Proving once again, that boz the wicked will defend himself to his death. In tournaments the chips are always completely worthless

This is something he's just learning about, the chips are worthless in a tournament unless they are dumped off to another player.

Besides for losing all my chips on that outing and busting out earlier than planned I had to scold and get into an argument with another player while at the table earlier in the game. This woman sitting next to me. She was a real bitch! With a nasty foul attitude to boot. This woman couldn't lay down her goddamn stupid phone during the poker game and she was constantly losing track of the game, asking people what the bet was, etc. I finally got tired of her bullshit and told her to pay attention to the game when she asked the table numerous times, "Is it on me?" "How much is the bet?" Her fucking phone was getting blown up like she had posted an ad on Backpage.com, fucking hooker. She tried to run her lip services at me but I shut it down quick. This bitch had her head in her phone and up her ass! It was nice to see her leave the game early. Her social media and fucking Facebook matter more than the game. Bitch!

So you lost something that was worthless and you are mad? So if I am in the first round of a four-round tournament with 50 people, and the grand prize is $200, and I act all pissed because I lost 100K on one hand--but don't tell you any of the other information I provided--I'm supposed to act incredulous when I'm asked questions? You're an idiot. The last tournament I was in, 5200 in chips translated into $4000. You don't enter a tournament if it's negative EV. Your chips are not so worthless that you can't articulate why 14K matters, unless you are a degenerate. I lost 11,000 play chips before the rebuy round, and it makes no sense to talk about it and I can't imagine why I'd be pissed about it--other than it cost me $30. If I had won, I'd simply have bypassed the rebuy round and it still wouldn't have been worth mentioning. So why was 14K such a big deal? Maybe you don't know how to win actual money in a tournament, BK Freeroller.
