    Default OODA loop

This looks like it could have some AP application?

    OODA loop
The OODA loop (for observe, orient, decide, and act) is a concept originally applied to the combat operations process, often at the strategic level in military operations. It is now also often applied to understand commercial operations and learning processes. The concept was developed by military strategist and USAF Colonel John Boyd.

Diagram of a decision cycle known as the Boyd cycle, or the OODA loop

The OODA loop has become an important concept in litigation, business and military strategy. According to Boyd, decision-making occurs in a recurring cycle of observe-orient-decide-act. An entity (whether an individual or an organization) that can process this cycle quickly, observing and reacting to unfolding events more rapidly than an opponent, can thereby "get inside" the opponent's decision cycle and gain the advantage. Frans Osinga argues that Boyd's own views on the OODA loop are much deeper, richer, and more comprehensive than the common interpretation of the 'rapid OODA loop' idea.

Boyd developed the concept to explain how to direct one's energies to defeat an adversary and survive. Boyd emphasized that "the loop" is actually a set of interacting loops that are to be kept in continuous operation during combat. He also indicated that the phase of the battle has an important bearing on the ideal allocation of one's energies.

edit: interesting excerpt from the link above:
"if the group cannot or does not attempt
to overcome obstacles deemed important to
many (or possibly any) of its individual members,
the group must risk losing these alienated
    members. Under these circumstances, the
alienated members may dissolve their relationship
    and remain independent, form a
group of their own, or join another collective
body in order to improve their capacity for
    independent action."
sound familiar with respect to a certain site?

definitely ZG, especially when it comes to dealing with competition. heck if you could do what you gotta do the way Boyd could fly a fighter jet or how he dealt with bureaucracy that would be the ticket.
but yeah, observe, orient, decide & act, then redo ala destruction, construction.

edit: i think Boyd's writing on destruction, construction were needed to help elucidate the unfolding interaction and feedback part of his OODA diagram. it's interesting i think because the looping visa v destruction & construction is crucial not just for (say) dealing with the casino environment which is ever changing, but for dealing with our own selves and the challenge that represents.
