    Default Mastodon mystery

I found this (non-photoshopped) remarkable mastodon image at National Geographic; from a story about a European melting glacier and what was found. Perhaps somebody here might venture to give a plausible explanation as to how the mastodon came to be frozen in an upright, apparently walking action? And while you're at it, how it is apparently still in such good condition, without being bent, buckled or broken by glacier pressures... It seems to have been frozen in an instant. Any takers?

    Default Space wind

They have found mammoths frozen upright with the vegetation they were chewing from a lush meadow still in their mouth. The "scientific" explanation that has been accepted is called space wind. It is were the temperature from space reaches the ground on earth. It is all speculation I believe. I am not aware that it has ever been observed. It didn't make sense to me because the freezing would require a sustained event not just a temporary inversion. Like many things in science they accept the best wild guess because they can't figure out a more plausible explanation.
