On July 7, 2005 bombings on the London subway system and a bus killed 52 people and injured 700. As the list of unanswered questions and inconsistencies about the attacks continued to grow, blame was quickly laid on ‘al Qaeda’.


The effects of the London bombings were immediate: There was a renewed commitment by Western leaders to the ‘war on terror’. Most other stories and scandals were wiped off newspaper front pages, including UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s plummeting popularity.


The bombings occurred while the G8 Summit was going on in nearby Gleneagles, Scotland. It was here the topic of terrorism was beginning to seem tired amid broadening demands for debt cancellation for impoverished countries. US President George Bush’s priority – the ‘war on terror’ – was moving out of the limelight.


Afterwards, with London smoking and bleeding, Bush and Blair were able to stand up tall and look strong as they declared the ‘war on terror’ would be won: “we will prevail and they will not,” and, “we alone are fighting” to defend “the values of Western civilisation.” Terror returned to front and centre and further debt cancellation was forgotten.The bombings were the green light for Tony Blair to introduce draconian anti-terrorism legislation which had previously been thwarted by judicial rulings designed to protect human rights.
Blair said he plans policies for deportation of people who “foster hatred.” Parliament will also be asked to pass a law against “condoning” or “glorifying terrorism” anywhere in the world, and giving the government the power to close places of worship. Lists are to be drawn up of ‘extremist’ websites, bookshops and centres.


A clampdown on words or actions likely to be seen as ‘glorifying terrorism’ could affect groups and individuals unconnected to ‘Islamic extremism’ – animal rights activists, for example, may have to change much of what they write if they are not to fall foul of the legislation. British MP George Galloway, a vocal supporter of the Iraqi resistance movement, could be charged under the new law because the government has demonised the resistance as ‘terrorists’.


Australian Prime Minister John Howard also announced a similar review to ‘tighten up’ anti-terrorism legislation.


Who was ultimately responsible for the July 7 bombings remains a mystery. But authorities seemed to know who was behind it soon after the attack. London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair had already made up his mind when he said the investigation into the bombs will uncover a “clear al Qaeda link.”


Responding to news of the July 7 bombings, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, who heads Iran’s top legislative watchdog the Guardian Council, said the British had themselves to blame.


“One possible set of culprits is al Qaeda. But al Qaeda is Bush and Blair. Who launched al Qaeda? You must be tried, you who are the mothers of al Qaeda,” he told worshippers at Friday prayers in Tehran.


“The other likelihood is that the British regime may have carried out the attack itself… because it benefits most… They want to justify their presence in Iraq and Afghanistan,” he added.


July 7 Anomalies


Independent researchers across the world have uncovered information which contradicts the official version of events and points to the involvement of intelligence agencies in the bombings.


Hardly any mainstream media picked up the news that ‘bombing exercises’ were being conducted in the London Underground at the same time as the actual attack.


Only hours after the July 7 bombings, in an interview on BBC radio, Peter Power, Managing Director of Visor Consultants, made the extraordinary admission that at precisely the time the London bombings took place, his company was running an exercise which drilled the London Underground being bombed at the exact same locations, at the exact same times, as happened in real life on July 7. Visor Consultants is a “crisis management advice company” or PR firm.


Power said the drill focused around “simultaneous bombings.” Originally the London bombings were thought to have been spread over an hour, but later it was revealed they were in fact simultaneous. Also, they were easier to execute as Britain’s terror alert level had just been lowered.


“We had to suddenly switch an exercise from fictional to real,” said Power who is a former Scotland Yard official, working at one time with the Anti Terrorist Branch.


Responding to a deluge of emails after his admission, Power strenuously denies any truth to “conspiracy theories” tying his company to the attacks, but he does confirm the exercise involved a “short number of ‘walk through’ scenarios for a private company in London as part of a wider project that remains confidential.”


Some investigators suspicious of Visor Consultants suggest the company might have released information to the media that the bombings were a power surge. For the first hour this was the explanation given, and one that would give authorities time to manage the release of information about the explosions. Power has been hired by the British government before and has on previous occasions released information after terrorist incidents in London. This is all too close to dismiss as simply coincidence.


A news report which almost went unnoticed hints intelligence agencies had prior knowledge of the attacks.


Arutz Sheva, pegged as Israel’s national news Internet site, stated on the day of the July 7 bombing: “Army Radio quoting unconfirmed reliable sources reported a short time ago that Scotland Yard had intelligence warnings of the attacks a short time before they occurred. The Israeli Embassy in London was notified in advance, resulting in Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu remaining in his hotel room rather than make his way to the hotel adjacent to the site of the first explosion, a Liverpool Street train station, where he was to address an economic summit.”


This report was subsequently refuted and changed to say Netanyahu was warned after the first blast.


The importance of Visor Consultant’s training exercise cannot be understated because the exact same scenario played out in the United States on the morning of September 11, 2001.


The Pentagon and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) conducted drills involving multiple hijacked planes on the morning of September 11, 2001. And in what the US government called “a bizarre coincidence,” the US National Reconnaissance Office had planned an exercise for September 11 in which an errant aircraft would crash into an office tower. American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon, took off from Dulles at 8:10 AM on September 11 – 50 minutes before the exercise was said to begin.


On the morning of 9-11, NORAD radar screens showed as many as 22 hijacked airliners at the same time, but they had been briefed this was part of the exercise drill and therefore normal reactive procedure was forestalled and delayed. The two scenarios are comparable in that it is a tried and tested method of navigating around everyday security services, and, more importantly, if the perpetrators get caught during the attack or after with any incriminating evidence, they can just claim they were taking part in an exercise.


What are the odds of coincidental ‘drills’ going on at the exact same time real life events were taking so many human lives in two terrorist attacks?
We are also faced with the scenario of four men, one of whom had a new family, and another whose wife was pregnant, carrying bombs set on timers and calmly waiting for them to explode.


A statement issued by the family of the so-called “fourth suicide bomber”, Jamaican-born British resident Germaine Lindsay, said he “had a kind, caring and calming presence about him.”


“He was a good and loving husband and a brilliant father, who showed absolutely no sign of doing this atrocious crime. We as a family had no idea of his plans and are as horrified as the rest of the world.”


The incongruities of the case have already prompted even some official investigators to suggest the men were not ‘suicide bombers’ but may have been duped by their “al Qaeda handler” into believing they would only place the explosive devices and not be killed in the blast. But it also makes sense if the men thought they were carrying fake bombs as part of a terror drill.
Lending weight to this theory is the fact all four men had paid up their parking tickets before boarding a train at Luton for King’s Cross and they all bought return tickets to the capital.


The lack of video taped evidence revealing the alleged bombers’ movements is also suspicious. Every London bus and Underground train carriage is said to have multiple video cameras, but the one on the bombed bus apparently “malfunctioned.” Videos of the other men have not been made available, only a few grainy images of the men at the start of their journey boarding the train at Luton.


Another piece of the jigsaw being pieced together by independent investigators is the testimony of 32 year-old dance instructor Bruce Lait, who was just metres away when a bomb ripped through his train carriage. He miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.


Speaking from his hospital bed in an interview with the British newspaper Cambridge Evening News of July 25, Lait recounts what happened after the bomb went off and how a policeman helped him out of the carriage, adding that, “The policeman said ‘mind that hole, that’s where the bomb was’. The metal was pushed upwards as if the bomb was underneath the train. They seem to think the bomb was left in a bag, but I don’t remember anybody being where the bomb was, or any bag.”


Then on July 21, two weeks after the July 7 bombings, four attempted bomb attacks disrupted part of London’s public transport system. By July 29, police had arrested all four of the main bombing suspects and numerous other people.


The July 21 attacks were immediately linked to the previous bombings, however it is has now been established there was no connection between the men involved in both attacks.


The police operation that quickly rounded up all the suspects of the copycat July 21 attack succeeded in monopolising media coverage and taking attention away from growing doubts about the official version of the July 7 bombings.


Hamdi Issac, one of the July 21 bomb suspects held in custody in Rome, says his backpack contained only flour and was designed merely to frighten. This explains why the so-called bombs let off a small bang followed by some smoke smouldering from their backpacks. According to Italian daily La Repubblica, he claims not to have planned to kill anybody in the attack, “let alone myself.” He added that the July 7 bombings in London, “happens every day in Iraq.”


The difference between the two bomb attacks could not be starker. The bombers of July 7 are all dead and police have made no arrests of significance in connection with it. The attacks of July 21 led to the arrest of all those directly involved including dozens of people who supposedly are ‘connected’.
Perhaps one of the biggest indicators of an intelligence agency link to the July 7 bombings is the revelation that Haroon Rashid Aswat – allegedly the “mastermind” of the attacks – is controlled by MI6, Britain’s external security service.


Speaking on July 29 to Fox News channel, former US Justice Department prosecutor and terrorism expert John Loftus discussed Aswat’s relationship to British and US intelligence, through a British based organisation Al Muhajiroun.


Loftus added that, “the entire British police are out chasing him [Aswat], and one wing of the British government, MI6 or the British Secret Service, has been hiding him…” Loftus adds that Aswat’s role as an informer or a ‘double agent’ had protected him from being arrested by the CIA because he “was working for British intelligence.”


Arresting and putting Aswat on trial in a secret tribunal for organising the July 7 attacks could be turned into a two fold victory for the intelligence agencies: al Qaeda is proved to be responsible, and a blowback remnant and potential whistleblower from their past operations is taken out of circulation.


Londonistan


Space does not permit a full accounting of Britain’s creation and manipulation of certain so-called ‘Islamic’ organisations in the late 19th and early 20th century. Close to a century ago the British began cultivating Islamic groups to counter the rising tide of Arab nationalism which demanded independence from colonialism. Suffice to say, as masters of political manoeuvring and intrigue, British geostrategists have for many years struggled to control events in the oil rich Middle East.


Up until recently, this strategy allowed a flood of ‘Islamists’ from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Palestine, to live in Britain, a safe haven where they could further promote their various causes.


By the 1980s and 90s, foreign intelligence services were complaining about the policy. The French were particularly incensed, tracing the origin of the 1995 bombings of the Paris Metro to cells operating, with apparent impunity, from London.


The Russians repeatedly expressed displeasure over Britain providing asylum for Chechen separatists, which they say is a double standard in the fight against terrorism. Two of the terrorists behind the massacre of 300 people, half of them children, in Beslan, Russia in 2004, were British citizens.
It is well known that for more than two centuries, the West has been engaged in breaking up – or thwarting – the presence and extension of Russian influence southward to the Black Sea and beyond. Destabilising the Russian republic of Chechnya is a key aspect of this strategy, part of the ‘New Great Game’.


The New Statesman revealed in December 2002 that, even a year after September 11, Britain was still seen as excessively tolerant. In a cover piece entitled ‘Londonistan’, the Statesman quoted European and American officials as suggesting the UK “had come to a non-aggression pact with Islamist oppositionists dating back to the mujahedin rebellion against the Soviet-backed regime in Afghanistan”: a deal that might explain British immunity from ‘Islamic’ attacks.


Years before September 11 there were calls for Britain to give up harbouring certain groups, but these pleas fell on deaf ears.


Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, at the 1997 summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference decried “Western democracies,” meaning in this case, Britain, which “give refuge to those of our people who promote disruptive activities in our countries,” even while accusing Islamic nations of promoting “terrorism.”


The ‘Islamic Group’ that claimed credit for the November 1997 shootings in Luxor, Egypt which killed over 60 people, mostly foreign tourists, had its international headquarters in London.


Al Ahram, the Egyptian government daily, in a feature entitled ‘How Can We Surround and Extradite London’s Lords of Terror?’ published on December 7, 1997, documents how London became an “Islamic” terrorist haven following the war in Afghanistan, when “legions” of unemployed mujahideen, who had been drawn to Afghanistan from all over the Muslim world, flocked to London for protection, and for new assignments.


Al Ahram quotes an unnamed security source, in its analysis of British motives in making London the “world’s terror capital,” which partially describes the thinking of British intelligence. “The British expect to reap a great advantage through controlling the most dangerous terrorists on its soil,” it quotes the source as saying.


“Through this logic,” the source continues, “British intelligence works contrary to all its counterparts in the world. The information British intelligence has acquired about these groups and its members, is an invaluable card, which it can use to either negotiate, or put pressure on, Middle East states.”
Al Ahram adds that part of the purpose is to manipulate these groups and take them over, on behalf of British geopolitical aims.


Al Ahram’s source concludes: “London’s ‘permanent interests’ have always converged with the lords of terrorism who live in Britain, and who never underestimate what their existence represents for British interests.’’
After September 11, French intelligence officials again angrily accused Britain’s internal security agency MI5 of failing to cooperate in stifling ‘Islamic’ terrorist groups. The level of assistance received from British intelligence in tracking down terror cells was described as being worse than before September 11.


The mid-1990s witnessed a series of vicious wars that led to the break up of Yugoslavia. The Pakistan-based militant group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUA) was one of the many organisations to send a contingent to help Bosnian Muslims in their fight against the Serbs. They were sent by the Pakistan government of Benazir Bhutto at the request of the US administration under Bill Clinton.


The contingent, which was raised and trained by Lieutenant General (retired) Hamid Gul, former director general of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), included a large number of British Muslims of Pakistani origin.
According to estimates, about 200 Muslims of Pakistani origin living in the UK went to Pakistan, received training in the camps of the HUA, and joined the HUA in Bosnia with the blessings of London and Washington. Among them was Omar Sheikh, who went on to mastermind the murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002.


In the late 1990s, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) also attracted many foreign fighters, encouraged by an outpouring of Western support to help defeat an alleged Serbian genocide. One of those fighters was David Hicks, who is now locked up in the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.


In Crossing The Rubicon, investigative journalist Mike Ruppert notes: “Great Britain – one of the major players supporting the KLA in Kosovo – also maintained secret relationships with bin Laden… In 1996, Britain’s exterior intelligence, MI6, actually funded and worked with al Qaeda in a plot to assassinate and overthrow Libya’s Muammar Qadhafi. Details of the relationship emerged after a British domestic intelligence (MI5) officer, David Shayler, went public with documents detailing the relationship between Britain and bin Laden.”


A decade before Bosnia and Kosovo, the West had raised and funded a large corps of fighters – including Osama bin Laden – to help the mujahideen in their jihad against Soviet troops in Afghanistan in the 1980s. Most of these ‘Freedom Fighters’ returned home, but many remained under Western intelligence agency control. Some were soon redeployed to North Africa and the Middle East, to carry out terrorist actions ascribed to ‘Islamic terrorist groups’, on behalf of Western geopolitical aims.


Question is: Are some of these fighters participating in the ‘war on terrorism’, and who do they work for?


Who Benefits?


After September 11, terrorism suddenly became enemy number one. The threat was conflated into the proportions of an alien invasion. However, whether it was real or not, the powers-that-be promptly took advantage of the terrorist bogeyman.


Armies could be mobilised against any country alleged to be ‘harbouring’ the new terrorist enemy (ie. Afghanistan and Iraq). An elusive enemy could strike anywhere at anytime, which meant sacrifices at home (anti-terrorism laws).
Such an enemy of vague and ambiguous proportions could be easily stage-managed. It is now irrelevant whether Osama bin Laden is alive or dead, or that he controls an actual organisation with certain objectives. The myth is born. And now those with real power – military force and ‘informational dominance’ – easily direct the outcome of the new game.


With ‘jihadists’ on the loose worldwide, we would expect to see many attacks. Instead, despite the mainstream media’s duplicity, since September 11 the Western world has witnessed only a few spectacular attacks supposedly carried out by small groups ‘connected’ to ‘al Qaeda’.


With great fanfare in the corporate controlled press, large numbers of Muslims have been rounded up in raids across Britain, Europe, the US, and Australia. But most were later released and no one has been proven to be an ‘al Qaeda’ operative. For example, following the well publicised ‘ricin affair’ in the UK in January 2003, it was later established there was no ‘ricin’, no ‘cell’, and no ‘al Qaeda’ connection.


The independent British journalist William Bowles notes that, “with hundreds arrested under anti-terror laws but not a single conviction of anyone actually proved as being a member of al Qaeda or even being caught red-handed with a bomb, it’s safe to assume that it’s unlikely al Qaeda actually exists as an effective organisation, let alone operates an ‘international terror network’.”
Statements of responsibility made in the name of ‘al Qaeda’ or the fact an individual claims to be acting on behalf of it (after being ‘softened up’ at a secret prison camp), does not prove such an organisation exists.


Official briefings about terrorism, often unverified or unverifiable by journalists, have become dramatic press stories. Few of these ominous announcements are retracted if they turn out to be baseless. Almost no one questions the myth of ‘al Qaeda’ because so many people have got an interest in keeping it alive.


It is not too difficult to understand the relative ease in which intelligence agencies, with all their financial and information resources, can manipulate data (as we saw in the recent WMD justification for war on Iraq) and people to achieve objectives.


Is the ‘war on terror’ running a little flat? Let’s raid the homes of some Muslims and then leak to the press that ‘Muslim extremists’ were planning ‘terrorist attacks’ on Australia’s Sydney’s Opera House and Harbour Bridge (such raids actually occurred in Melbourne on June 22). What’s even better, the families whose homes were raided are prevented from speaking out by new anti-terrorism laws.


Thus, we never know if the raids prevented a terrorist plot or they were a publicity stunt for the ‘war on terror’. But headlines have the desired effect, the not so subtle reminder there’s a ‘war’ going on and it might one day come to your home, your office, or your child’s school – just as it did to commuters in London on July 7.


Can we say the cause of Islam benefits from terrorist attacks that kill civilians? No, of course not. The beneficiaries are governments who can ‘justifiably’ continue to support Bush’s ‘war on terror’ (which enriches the military-industrial complex) and introduce long sought laws that curtail civil liberties and limit dissent.


In London today they are now implementing intrusive surveillance and policing of Muslims and the Muslim community. The attacks have justified the introduction of ID cards, which will hold substantial personal information.
New ‘anti-terror’ laws being rushed through the UK Parliament include rules allowing the government to impose curfews and the electronic tagging of people suspected of terrorism.


A Phoney ‘War on Terror’


It goes without saying that the overwhelmingly majority of Muslim organisations are entirely legitimate and also it cannot be assumed that all groups cited in this article are simply the products of Western intelligence. What the evidence reveals is that intelligence agencies have tirelessly worked to infiltrate groups of all political and religious persuasions in an effort to achieve their objectives.


The use of agent provocateurs is a well established method that many states still use against their perceived enemies. It would be child’s play for well established spy agencies such as Britain’s MI6, America’s CIA, and Israel’s Mossad to control ‘al Qaeda’, which barely exists at all, except as an idea or a myth about cleansing a corrupt world through religious violence.


Much of the currently perceived threat from international terrorism, argues the recent TV documentary ‘The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear’, “is a fantasy that has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It is a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world, the security services, and the international media.”


“In an age when all the grand ideas have lost credibility, fear of a phantom enemy is all the politicians have left to maintain their power,” it says. A perpetual war against an invisible and entirely fictitious enemy.


Five continuous years of a ‘war on terrorism’ past the point of no return have left the line between fabricated (intelligence agency-orchestrated) terrorism and any ‘real’ terrorism (a response to the provocations and policies) irrevocably blurred.


As a willing partner in this enterprise, the mainstream media has distorted the truth by ‘pre-packaging’ language in a way that paints the world into black (‘terrorist’) and white (‘us’). Shades of grey (where truth and reality normally reside) are difficult to describe in just a few words. Terms such as ‘terrorist’, ‘act of terror’, ‘fundamentalism’ or ‘threat’ act as familiar signposts for the public, to be regurgitated in social discourse without any knowledge of the semantic meaning of the language being employed.


George Orwell warned that an individual’s thought processes were undermined by what he disparaging termed ‘journalese’ or ‘officialese’. When an individual becomes a slave to official jargon they are, in a sense, gagged. Individuals are prone to use ‘officialese’ and follow the ‘mindless thought grooves’ which, in Orwell’s opinion, could easily be replaced with more accurate and thoughtful terms.


In George Orwell’s classic novel 1984, the totalitarian state of Oceania is perpetually at war with either Eurasia or Eastasia. Although the enemy changes periodically, the war is permanent; its true purpose is to control dissent and sustain dictatorship by nurturing popular fear and hatred.
Newspeak, the “official language” of Oceania, reduced the number and variety of words in use to render dissenting thought obsolete. Closely related to Newspeak is Doublethink, in which someone is conditioned to either say the opposite of what he thinks or think the opposite of what is true.


By the devious abuse of language and spreading the fear of more terrorist attacks, the government and the corporate media are numbing us into blindly accepting the emerging totalitarian state.

What role does conspiracy and cover-up play in the multifarious facets of life in the closing years of this twentieth century? Are powerful groups manipulating events as part of a long-range strategy to bring about a totally controlled global society? Does recognition of conspiracies lead to paranoia and delusion? Or does it actually explain events and thereby empower people?
It is not the purpose of this short article to examine the range of crimes, cabals and secret plots broadly covered by the word conspiracy. Nor do we intend to prove the existence of some international conspiracy at work in the crisis torn world of the 90s. What we want to touch on is the implications of conspiracy theories for personal transformation. What we want to explore here is a different way of seeing the world.


First let us define the meaning of that seemingly disturbing word: “conspiracy”. Webster’s International dictionary gives, as one connotation, “a combination of men for an evil purpose; a plot”. The Oxford Dictionary of English agrees, defining conspiracy as “a combination of persons for an evil or unlawful purpose; an agreement between two or more to do something criminal, illegal or reprehensible; a plot”.


If, as a significant number of researchers claim, it can be shown that influential – largely hidden – elites have knowingly combined their efforts in a plot(s) to manipulate and control people and events, then on the basis of the standard definition just cited, a conspiracy does indeed exist.


Readers who are accustomed (or is it conditioned?) to automatically regard any mention of conspiracy as irrational paranoia, will find this very subject a ‘problem’.


Jonathon Vankin, the author of two excellent books exploring a host of conspiracy theories, observes that, “The word ‘conspiracy’ may be a ‘problem’ for some, but only because it represents the unknown, mystery, and risk. Those are the things that grip the human mind and bring it to life. These ideas can only be a problem for those who wish to keep our minds under control.”


Last century the British politician, Benjamin Disraeli, a man of wide political experience, declared that “the world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes.” This century U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt has been quoted as saying: “In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, it was planned that way.”
“Ruling elites will use conspiracy,” states political scientist and activist Dr. Michael Parenti. “They will finance elections, publicity campaigns, publishing houses, wire services, and academic studies. They will use surveillance, mobsters, terrorists, assassins and death squads.”


Conspiracy researchers ‘look behind the dark curtain’ that shrouds history and the sacrosanct assumptions reinforcing contemporary society.
There really are, as investigative author Jim Hougan says, two kinds of history, the safe, sanitized “‘Disney version,’ so widely available as to be unavoidable…and a second one that remains secret, buried, and unnamed.”
This “second” version of history, Jonathon Vankin and John Whalen argue, does indeed have a name: “conspiracy theory.” According to the co-authors of 50 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time the official, safe “Disney” version of history “could just as easily be called the ‘New York Times version’ or the ‘TV news version’ or the ‘college textbook version.’ The main resistance to conspiracy theories comes not from people on the street, but from the media, academia, and government – people who manage the national and global economy of information.”


The structure of the modern world demands mass adherence to faith in the institutions that maintain the existing order and make it run. These institutions are innumerable: government, business, science, education, politics…and their survival is dependent on people’s faith in authority.
“We have to believe the institutions are functioning in our best interests,” wrote Vankin in his 1991 ground-breaking book Conspiracies, Cover-Ups and Crimes. “We have to believe what the people within those institutions assure us to be true.”


This is why ‘conspiracy theories’ are universally anathema to the Establishment. They directly challenge the status quo, undermining the blind faith of the ‘brainwashed’ masses in society’s machiavellian ‘leaders’!
Vankin quotes anthropologist Jules Henry as saying that “our civilization is a tissue of contradictions and lies.” Henry used the term “sham” for the everyday deceptions that reinforce this malignant society. “Sham gives rise to coalitions because usually sham cannot be maintained without confederates.” In other words, to keep the system afloat requires a conspiracy. “In sham,” Henry continues, “the deceiver enters into an inner conspiracy against himself.”


Acknowledging the conspiracies and cover-ups behind history and contemporary events means we can no longer lie to ourselves, like Colin Wilson’s “Outsider” who “cannot live in the comfortable insulated world of the bourgeois, accepting what he sees and touches as reality.”
Modern civilisation is a conspiracy against Reality.


R.D. Laing explains in The Politics of Experience how people are ‘conditioned’ and ‘brainwashed’ by modern society. Beginning with the children, Laing says, “It is imperative to catch them in time. Without the most thorough and rapid brainwashing their dirty minds would see through our dirty tricks. Children are not yet fools, but we shall turn them into imbeciles like ourselves, with high IQs if possible.


“From the moment of birth, when the Stone Age baby confronts the Twentieth century mother, the baby is subjected to these forces of violence, called love, as its mother and father, and their parents and their parents before them, have been. These forces are mainly concerned with destroying most of its potentialities, and on the whole this enterprise is successful. By the time the new human being is fifteen or so, we are left with a being like ourselves, a half-crazed creature more or less adjusted to a mad world. This is normality in our present age.”


In our conditioned environment we accept what we are told, largely without question. Society, or more precisely the ruling elites, define reality.


Central to every conspiracy is the suppression of specific information or the deliberate avoidance of certain key facts. Control of information is a mechanism of social control. If information is used by the ruling elites to programme and mentally enslave people, then information can be used to deprogramme and liberate them. Knowledge is the key to freedom.
According to the Sufis, the potential for clear, direct perception in man in his everyday life is largely frustrated by a distorting complex of sociopsychological conditioning factors. Often these appear in the seemingly innocuous forms of unfounded assumptions and expectations. Consequently man is ready mental putty in the hands of powerful manipulators.
Conspiracies are detected only by the exercise of unfettered perception and thinking. Thus, conspirators must propagate a necessary level of confusion in those whom they seek to deceive and control.


The mere realisation of the existence and activities of various ‘conspiracies’ orchestrated by powerful ruling elites, has a largely liberating effect on a thinking individual, disclosing to him as it does the vast magnitude of the lies and deception incorporated in the various layers of official culture. The whole social structure, educational structure, economic and political structures are directly challenged.


Once a person realises that there is a ‘hidden history’ behind our so-called history, they invariably start to want to break away from the futile human pattern of seeing reality as it is not and thereby living a lie. They want to abandon the anaesthetic of ignorance and suppression within which man cocoons himself and to embrace the intensity of reality – as it is.


Conspiracies and cover-ups do exist. However, their underlying root cause is our own irresponsibility, ignorance and inactivity. The world tells us what we want to hear, giving us justifications for different states of irresponsibility. Civilization may well be destroying itself, but individuals don’t have to destroy themselves with it.


The modern world with its phobias, neurosis, contradictions and conflicts, is what we must overcome. We must break our links, sever our ties; plumb the depths of our unconsciousness, and cut the bonds with which we’ve bound ourselves.


Confronted by the intrigue of conspiracy and cover-up, we don’t react to the sham by constructing an equally dogmatic, paranoid worldview. Nor do we become down-cast, depressed or consumed with red-hot anger. There is no point in hiding away or running wildly in the street. Just be AWARE. From the inner certainty, clarity and calm of AWARENESS proceeds right and constructive action. Channel your anger, your fear, your hopes and dreams into TOTAL AWARENESS. By discerning society’s true condition you are free from the bonds of ignorance and no longer a pawn in the game. Awakening from the sleep of conditioned existence we can appreciate the words of the Sufi teacher Al Ghazzali: “The higher one ascends a mountain, the farther one sees.”


Some radical students of the Bible identify the existing social, political and economic order as “Babylon”. A name synonymous with a system of total oppression and exploitation, taken from the Book of Revelation. The government, the bureaucracy, indeed all worldly authorities are mere instruments of Babylon. One more war for Israel


In a stunning betrayal of the Constitution of the United States, which obligates the United States to conform to the UN Charter and international law, the US Senate has before it a resolution that commits the nation to support Israel militarily, diplomatically, and economically should it decide to attack Iran “in its legitimate self-defense”, where every action Israel has ever taken–from the Six Days War to its incursions into Lebanon–has been deemed by the American government to be “in its legitimate self-defense”. The Senate vote will occur Wednesday, 22 May 2013.


The resolution states:
If the Government of Israel is compelled to take military action in legitimate self defense against Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the United States Government should stand with Israel and provide, in accordance with United States law and the constitutional responsibility of Congress to authorize the use of military force, diplomatic, military, and economic support to the Government of Israel in its defense of its territory, people, and existence.


As M.J. Rosenberg has observed,


[T]he “self-defense” limitation is no limitation at all. The United States has deemed all major Israeli military actions as “self-defense” (most recently two Gaza wars) with the oft-repeated statement that the United States is “fully supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself.” Couple that with President Obama’s language ruling out containment of a nuclear Iran and it’s pretty clear that any attack by Israel on Iran will be deemed self-defense by the United States.


Rand Paul (R-KY) has been doing what he can to tone down the resolution, but whether he can prevail is yet to be seen. While this is a non-binding resolution that does not have the force of law in committing the nation to support Israel under these circumstances, it does express “the sense of the Senate”. While the President is obligated by the Constitution to seek its “advice and consent”, this commitment violates international law and the UN Charter and therefore the Constitution itself.


At the very least, AIPAC should be required to register as a “foreign agent”. Its virtually complete domination of American foreign policy has led wits to describe the US as “the United States of Israel”. The problem is that this is not a joke, where “our gallant ally” is drawing us deeper and deeper into a conflict which has enormous potential to precipitate World War III. It is a positive sign that Russia has intervened in Syria. It will not stand idly by while Israel and the United States attack Iran.

Iran poses no imminent treat to the US or to Israel, where the stunning stupidity of the Senate resolution emerges from the reflection that (1) Iran has no nuclear weapons program, much less any nukes; (2) that the casualties from an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear energy facilities would be catastrophic; and (3) that Israel is not an ally of the United States, but is committed to advancing its own interests, regardless of the consequences for the US or, indeed, for the world at large.


(1) Iran has no nuclear weapons program


Iran not only has no nuclear weapons program but is a peaceful nation that has not attacked any other country for more than 300 years. The Supreme Leader of Iran, The Ayatolla Khamenei, has declared, “Nuclear energy for all, nuclear weapons for none”. Iran has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has allowed inspectors. All 16 US intel agencies concluded in 2007 that Iran was not pursuing a nuclear weapons program, a conclusion that it reaffirmed in 2011.


Israel, by contrast, has more than 200 and as many as 600 of these little beauties. It has never signed the NPT and will not allow inspectors. The War against Terror was an Israeli contrivance to set the United States on a course to dismantle the sophisticated Arab states and leave Israel with uncontested domination of the Middle East. Upon his return from serving as Supreme Commander, Allied Forces Europe, Gen. Wesley Clark was presented with a plan to dismantle seven Arab nations in the next five years. Syria and Iran are the final stages of this Israeli plan.

(2) The civilian casualties would be catastrophic


Estimates have it that an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear energy facilities would bring about an estimated 1 million Iranian deaths outright and another 35,000,000 premature deaths as the cloud of pollution swept across Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Even if there were proof of an Iranian nuclear weapons program, what could possibly justify an atrocity of this magnitude? Yet the US Senate would have our nation become complicit in one of the greatest atrocities of human history?


For the sake of comparison, according to the “official account”, some 6,000,000 Jews died during the Holocaust. Set aside that the International Committee of the Red Cross maintained detailed records that support perhaps 600,000 deaths of Jews, gypsies and the mentally and physically impaired, Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to sacrifice six times the number of deaths alleged to have taken place during the Holocaust to promote Israel’s political domination of the Middle East.

(3) Israel is not an ally of the United States


The recent attack on Syria by Israel, which appears to have been intended to destroy a shipment of missiles and to take out a chemical supply depot, has had the unintended consequence of providing Russia with an excuse to speed up its delivery of its advanced S-300 missiles, which can be used for anti-aircraft and anti-ship defense and has greatly strengthened the ability of Syria to withstand attacks. Indeed, there is every reason to believe that Russia is committed to standing fast with Syria.


Throughout this conflict, Obama’s actions have been disgraceful, where he (a) has supported Israel in taking such actions as it may deem appropriate (without adding, “provided they are in accordance with international law”), (b) is providing Netanyahu with refueling tankers and radar-suppressing aircraft to attack Iran (which I compare to placing a pedophile in charge of a day care center) and (c) continues to use drones in Pakistan (another violation of another nation’s sovereignty).

What this means is that the President of the United States, by encouraging Israel to violate the sovereignty of Syria and of Pakistan and to attack Iran, which poses no “imminent treat” to any other nation, especially to Israel with its vast stock of nuclear weapons, has become an accessory to the violation of international law and to the commission of war crimes. If Israel should launch an attack on Iran because it believes the US will support it, the stain on our history will be permanent.


It is all the more surprising that the US Senate remains so enthusiastic about its unqualified support for Israel, since we now have multiple confirmed reports of Israeli snipers having taken out more than 400 US troops in Iraq. This is just about as disgusting as it gets and reveals decisively that Israel has only its own interests at heart and is willing to sacrifice even the welfare of American troops in combat to promote it, not to mention 36,000,000 innocents to advance its political agenda.


Senate Resolution: U.S. Will Go to War With Iran if Israel Does

It is customary for Congress to pass resolutions commending Israel on the anniversary of its founding in 1948. Once these resolutions were innocuous with references to “making the desert bloom” and “ingathering” Jewish refugees. Standard “pro-Israel” boilerplate. No more.


In recent years Congress, with the Israel lobby’s eager assistance, has coupled salutations and congratulations with increasingly strident language about terrorism, Palestinians, and now, Iran. (For an excellent analysis on how the concept of being “pro-Israel” has degenerated in recent years, see this smart piece by Michael Koplow, program director of the Israel Institute at Georgetown University.)


One such anniversary resolution now being considered in the Senate and, with 79 cosponsors, certain to pass is Senate Resolution 65, introduced by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), two lobby stalwarts. It cleared the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday.
The resolution begins with five clauses of standard rhetoric, noting that “since its establishment nearly 65 years ago, the modern State of Israel has… forged a new and dynamic democratic society including “freedom of speech, association, and religion; a vigorously free press; free, fair, and open elections; the rule of law; a fully independent judiciary; and other democratic principles and practices….” The usual fare.


Then, with no transition, it segues into 14 clauses condemning Iran with citations of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s ugly language about Israel, his repeated Holocaust denials, the Islamic Republic’s human rights violations and then the threat ostensibly posed by its nuclear program.


That is followed by 13 clauses citing President Obama’s repeated promises not to permit Iran to attain a nuclear weapon, along with Congress’ own, which are even more aggressive.


All this is just the windup for the pitch which says that if Israel goes to war with Iran, the United States should join the fight. The resolution states:
If the Government of Israel is compelled to take military action in legitimate self defense against Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the United States Government should stand with Israel and provide, in accordance with United States law and the constitutional responsibility of Congress to authorize the use of military force, diplomatic, military, and economic support to the Government of Israel in its defense of its territory, people, and existence.
On the surface, this doesn’t sound that terrible. After all, it specifically limits our commitment to a situation in which “Israel is compelled to take military action in self-defense….”


But the “self-defense” limitation is no limitation at all. The United States has deemed all major Israeli military actions as “self-defense” (most recently two Gaza wars) with the oft-repeated statement that the United States is “fully supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself.” Couple that with President Obama’s language ruling out containment of a nuclear Iran and it’s pretty clear that any attack by Israel on Iran will be deemed self-defense by the United States.


In short, the Graham-Menendez resolution is telling Israel that if it goes to war, we will have their back.


The problem here is not that Congress is saying that the United States would support Israel if there was any chance that it might be defeated in a war with Iran or anyone else. That is obvious and has been since 1973 when the United States military was placed on its highest alert following the joint Egyptian-Syrian attack on Israel.


No, the point of this resolution is to tell Israel that it can go to war with Iran, with the assurance that if it gets into trouble, the United States will step in and finish the job. Israeli hawks need that assurance because it is generally understood that Israel cannot take out Iran’s nuclear facilities alone. It can only try if it knows that the United States is right there just in case.


The intent of this resolution is to eliminate any Israeli hesitancy about getting into a war it cannot win. Israelis won’t do that. Menendez, Graham and company are telling them not to worry. Just do it, and we are in too.

More than targeting political enemies is involved. More on than below. The practice is longstanding. Republican and Democrat administrations use the IRS abusively.


During the Coolidge administration, Republican Senator James Couzens investigated the IRS’ predecessor – the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon sued him. University of Virginia Law Professor George Yin called doing so the “greatest tax suit in the history of the world.” At issue was political intrigue, backstabbing, and unintended consequences.


Franklin Roosevelt targeted William Randolph Hearst, Louisiana Governor Huey Long, and anti-administration critic/popular radio host Father John Coughlin. IRS officials investigated their finances.


In the 1940s and 1950s, hundreds of IRS employees were sacked and/or indicted for involvement in widespread corruption and bribery.


San Francisco officials colluded with organized crime. The St. Louis office head, a practicing attorney, represented a client on a tax issue. Doing so was a clear conflict of interest.


The Kennedy administration created an Ideological Organizations Audit Project. It did so to investigate conservative groups. It challenged their tax exempt status. Targets included the American Enterprise Institute and Christian Anti-Communist Crusade.


Nixon’s Opponents List and Political Enemies Project became known as his Enemies List.


His administration created the Special Services Staff. It targeted political opponents and activists.


According to his White House Counsel John Dean, it “deal(t) with persons known to be active in their opposition to our Administration; stated a bit more bluntly – how we (could) use the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies.”


In the 1990s, the Senate Finance Committee accused the IRS of “Gestapo-like” conduct. In 1998, the IRS Restructuring and Reform Act followed. At issue was curbing IRS enforcement powers. Little more than doing so nominally was achieved.


Shortly before the 1992 election, the Binghamton, NY Branch Ministries ran full-page newspaper ads. They claimed Clinton promoted policies “in rebellion to God’s laws.”


Doing so was illegal. Tax law prohibits 501c 3 organizations from engaging in electoral politics.


In 2001, statistical evidence showed voters in key electoral districts experience disproportionately fewer election year audits.


During the 2004 electoral campaign, a Pasadena, CA All Saints Church minister criticized Bush’s attack, invasion and occupation of Iraq. An IRS investigation followed.


Obama’s accused of using the IRS against conservative non-profit groups and others seeking tax-exempt status. Organizations with “tea party,” “patriot,” or “9/12″ in their names were targeted.


So were others challenging Obamacare or federal electoral integrity. All government critics are vulnerable. It’s true under Republican and Democrat administrations.


In 2012, former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman lied. He told House members “there’s absolutely no targeting. This is the kind of back and forth that happens to people.”


The IRS now claims targeting conservative groups was “in no way due to any political or partisan rationale.”


Some NGOs operate legitimately. Others don’t. No more than 49% of a group’s resources can be used for political purposes. Strict rules govern doing so.


In January 2013, Pro Publica discussed five conservative dark money groups. They were active during the 2012 election. The IRS illegally released information about their tax exempt status petitions. Doing so is a felony.
Former Obama Council of Economic Advisors chairman Austan Goolsbee divulged confidential Koch Industries tax information.


After not levying gift taxes for decades, the IRS told five donors to conservative NGO advocacy groups that past donations could be taxed. Doing so retroactively raises legitimate concerns.


FOIA-obtained information revealed that the IRS “has long taken the position that (it) can read your emails without a warrant.” Doing so violates the Fourth Amendment.


Once Obamacare’s fully implemented in 2014, the IRS will enforce 47 new tax provisions. Doing so promises to be nightmarish. Giving the agency power over healthcare is scandalous. Enormous harm is likely.


After the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling, NGOs became more politically active. At the time, Ralph Nader denounced the decision, saying:
It “shreds the fabric of our already weakened democracy by allowing corporations to more completely dominate our corrupted electoral process.”
“It is outrageous that corporations already attempt to influence or bribe our political candidates through their political action committees (PACs), which solicit employees and shareholders for donations.”


“With this decision, corporations can now also draw on their corporate treasuries and pour vast amounts of corporate money, through independent expenditures, into the electoral swamp already flooded with corporate campaign PAC contribution dollars.”


“This corporatist, anti-voter decision is so extreme that it should galvanize a grassroots effort to enact a Constitutional Amendment to once and for all end corporate personhood and curtail the corrosive impact of big money on politics.”


“It is indeed time for a Constitutional amendment to prevent corporate campaign contributions from commercializing our elections and drowning out the civic and political voices and values of citizens and voters.”


“It is way overdue to overthrow “King Corporation” and restore the sovereignty of “We the People”!


Dark money infests politics. America’s political system is scandalous. Duopoly power corrupts it. Voters get the best democracy money can buy.


Corporations, NGO advocacy groups, and other powerful interest groups decide everything. Ordinary people have no say.


Today’s scandal is bipartisan. For example, Senator Pat Toomey (R. PA) accused the IRS of tactics “akin to an enemies list.” In his 2010 senatorial race, conservative NGOs contributed millions of dollars to his campaign.
The criminal class in Washington is bipartisan. Both sides of the isle share guilt. Big spenders flout the law repeatedly. Most do with impunity.
After Citizens United, the IRS struggled to determine which NGOs deserved “social welfare” status. The ruling lets corporations and unions raise and spent unlimited amounts of political money.


Other groups can accept undisclosed contributions as long as their “primary purpose” is apolitical.


House and Senate committees announced investigations. Capitol Hill is rife with corruption. Legislation if enacted won’t improve things. It hasn’t before. It won’t now.


After Watergate, the White House was legally barred from contacting the IRS about tax matters. The agency can only release information about petitions for tax exempt status after they’ve been approved or denied.


On May 16, Public Citizen said the IRS controversy doesn’t “diminish the need for fair and balanced disclosure of corporate political spending.”


According to Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division director Lisa Gilbert:
“The IRS controversy is about partisanship, not disclosure. Tying the IRS’s problems to the SEC rulemaking on corporate political spending is the height of political theater.”


Public Citizen’s Craig Holman added:
“The real issue with the IRS controversy is whether the agency was enforcing the tax code in a partisan, discriminatory manner, not whether electioneering nonprofit organizations should disclose the sources of their campaign funds.”
The Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) headlined “The Real IRS Scandal,” saying:
It’s not about targeting tea party or other conservative groups. It’s “the shocking lack of much scrutiny at all of the vast majority of politically active nonprofits that poured hundreds of millions of dollars into our elections over the last four years.”


CRP executive director Sheila Krumholz and chairman Robert Weinberger explained, saying:
“The majority of the organizations that appear to be most politically active – from groups that run their own ads, like American Action Network and Americans for Prosperity, to the mysterious Center to Protect Patient Rights, which distributes money to other political groups – already have exempt status.”


“There’s little evidence that the IRS is looking into these groups.”
The current scandal will make it harder to do so. Groups targeted “received more scrutiny and suspicion than they deserved.”


“(M)ore regrettable is the long-term damage to the credibility of the IRS as an impartial arbiter of whether organizations merit tax-exempt status.”

There is a close connection between the two heinous crimes. The reason Robert Kennedy was assassinated was that he had committed himself to reopen - upon his election as USA president - the investigation into the assassination of his brother, J.F. Kennedy. on the 22nd of November, 1963. President J.F. The first big part of the news is the active word ‘permanent.’ Corporate media decided to ignore the strategic shift consequences of that, and the West may be looking back soon at the wisdom their aggressive regime change military moves, despite the extensive use of proxies.


The recent Israeli attacks on Syria, particularly the use of a nuclear bunker buster gave the Russians a gift from heaven, opening the door to make a defensive deployment to protect their longtime ally in Syria. The Russians are back in the Med to stay, and this might be a good lesson to the folly of the Western slow motion aggression policy in the region, which has put a match to the whole place.


Russian Navy Commander Admiral Viktor Chirkov has announced that a permanent staff was being set up, and the present force might eventually include their nuclear submarines. In speaking to RIA:


“Overall, already from this year, we plan to have five or six warships and support vessels [in the Mediterranean Sea], which will be replaced on a rotating basis from each of the fleets - the Black Sea, Baltic, Northern and, in some cases, even the Pacific Fleet. Depending on the scope of assignments and their complexity, the number of warships in the task force may be increased.”


Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu let the cat out of the bag when he stated that a permanent naval task force was needed to defend Russian interests in the region. The world has watched for two years now how coolly Russia has dealt with the continuing escalations in the fighting there, supported by a growing number of outside states who have effectively declared war on Syria thinking that such was a no-risk deal.


Here is what corporate media has not been telling you all. The preemptive strike doctrine of the Israelis and Neocons is going to be challenged. Netanyahu can talk all he wants to about red lines which will trigger a preemptive ‘defensive’ strike, but yours truly has written in these columns that eventually the intended targets would adopt that policy themselves. They have actually been given permission to by the dummies who invented it.


US Navy sources can sneer at the ‘old’ Russian ships all they want to, but there is nothing old about what they will be carrying, a game changer… their state-of-the-art missiles which they made a top priority in their defense policy as the new missiles are revolutionizing the next generation of warfare. The will sweep the skies of planes and the seas of ships. Air forces are working now to deploy robotic war plane drones that are basically missiles themselves by matching their speeds and aerodynamics.


Part of the corporate media hoax has been the fraudulent story of the S-300s being ‘introduced’ to the region as being destabilizing. Anyone wanting to check a copy of Jane’s in 1996 will find them already in Syria. Maybe some definition game has been going on that if they were under Russian physical control, as American munitions are in many foreign bases, they are not officially Syrian. But I would ask the lazy media what they thought brought down the Turkish F-16 provocations, a waste of those unfortunate pilots in peace time.


Yes folks, the S-300’s have been there all this time, and not fired at Israel yet. But that is all going to change. Their fleet, even its older ships will be carrying their state-of-the-art weapons like the S-400’s where a pilot only has two or three seconds to live once the ‘beep beep’ that they are locked onto at tremendous speeds. The Russian ships on patrol will be able to shoot any attacking Israeli planes down, including those returning to base post attack. They can even be shot down while taking off.


Any retaliatory strike by Israel would trigger a full response by the Russians that could include their bases and command structure. Their updated Iskander missiles are stated to have speeds in the Mach 6 to 7 range but our sources say over Mach 8. To evade anti-missile fire they can pull 30+ g turns and make a 90-degree dive onto a target while doing so. The Israeli bullies have never had to stand up to a modern military but they may get the chance. They won’t like it.


The beauty in all of this is the scenario described above could all be done in a purely defensive mode while resisting an Israeli attack. After one incident alone the Russians might tell the Israelis that any Israeli warplane leaving Israeli air space would be considered an attack and both the plane and the base it flew from subject to attack.

A Zionist terrorist planned to assassinate Winston Churchill in order to secure a Jewish state, MI5 records show.


Eliyahu Bet-Zuri suggested sending agents of the Stern Gang, a terrorist group dedicated to forcing the British out of Palestine, to London to kill the prime minister.


MI5 was concerned that Jewish extremists might try to assassinate other leading British politicians, in particular the post-war foreign secretary Ernest Bevin, files released to the National Archives reveal.


Major James Robertson, from the agency's Middle East section, said threats made by Bet-Zuri in November 1944 were disclosed by another member of the Stern Gang who was arrested in April 1945.


The suspect revealed: "As soon as he [Bet-Zuri] returned to Stern Group headquarters he proposed to suggest a plan for the assassination of highly placed British political personalities, including Mr Churchill, for which purpose emissaries should be sent to London."

John had a two-part presentation. First part was describing his job as the unit's anti-terrorism officer. Pretty standard stuff.

The second part was information that will curl your hair. A Part-time air guardsman works as a checker at local Von's. Two women in full burkas buy every pre-paid cell phone in the store. Clerk/airman gets to thinking about it.

Goes to Cotter and reports incident. Cotter asks store for surveillance video. It's scary enough that he contacts Fresno FBI.

FBI investigates and determines these women have been doing this all over the Valley. Cell phones shipped through Canada to Iraq/Afghanistan where they become triggers for roadside bombs.

The Shell station at Peach and Shaw. Every time a local GI goes there in fatigues they are asked specific questions. What is your unit? When are you deploying? How many aircraft are you taking?

The F-16s out of Fresno fly CAP for west coast. As such they are the first line of defense so they have the US 's most sophisticated air-to-air missiles. Foreign governments would like to get their hands on those missiles or at least learn how to build them. Also how many we have, etc. Two spy groups are working on it, one based at Fashion Fair Mall (the F-16s take-off pattern) and one based at Sierra Vista Mall (the F-16s landing pattern).

Cotter said the ragheads (but we don't profile) are always probing the base. Two dorks in a pickup show up at the front gate wanting to deliver a package marked Air National Guard, Fresno ... No postage, no UPS, no FedEx, no DHL, no nothing. Just a probe.

I asked Cotter why we haven't seen anything about this in The Bee, on KMJ, on local TV news. He said they're not interested. Since Friday I've learned of two other things. My brother-in-law, Frank, (management at Avaya) had a Muslim tech who took a leave-of-absence for 6 weeks in Afghanistan . After the 6 weeks were up he called from New York requesting an extension. Frank (who does profile) said, you're fired, and called the Fresno FBI who were very interested. Don't know the outcome. A Muslim who owns a liquor store in my former hometown of Kingsburg was constantly bugging customers to buy guns for him. Finally one of the guys I grew up with called the FBI.

It’s not nice out there these days. While the wake up rolls on behind the scenes, the charade of projected insanity on the world screen only grows worse and more surreal as the world is pushed further and further from any semblance of sanity and truth.


It’s a dangerous time.


This distended polarization has become so extreme something has to snap – and soon. The danger will increase exponentially when that happens as people have become essentially psychotic to put up with this bullshit bombardment. As a result, everything will be on the rebound when the dam of lies breaks and all these infected minds stretched to their limits begin to snap.


All by design. Brought to you from the minds of psychopathic entities that feed off of all this. Whatever you do, don’t take their mind under any circumstance. Fear is the tractor beam. Stay clear of it, even when everything breaks loose.


Dazed and Crazed


I don’t mean to emphasize the negative here, but this is a reality we need to be well aware of and not get caught up in. I’ve been in countries during martial law and emergency situations and it’s no fun. People really freak out. Fear goes on a rampage, rumors spread like wild fire. When you hear gunshots, I mean big guns, and machine gun fire in the streets, and local establishments get trashed and set on fire, the frosty, false illusion is likewise smashed and the reaction by the mass mind is not an experience you ever want again.


My youngest was born at night during curfew hours in Iran when people were routinely shot. This was during the uprising just before the Shah was booted out and Khomeini arrived in the late 70′s. We had to have a police escort to the hospital which wasn’t easy to arrange. We would have left Iran earlier as the violence escalated but no airline would take my wife being so close to giving birth. So we had to wait until he was born, while several jumbo jets were flown in to evacuate the Americans in Tehran. I was just an English teacher and editor so we weren’t on “the list” to get help anyway.


Even then, after the birth, the US Embassy wouldn’t give us a passport for him unless I could meet all these inane requirements such as proving I was in the US over at least so many years before the age of 21, which at that time would take a document being mailed from the US. The postal system was on strike as was most everything in Iran and the phones were shut down periodically, as was the power. All hell was breaking loose. We got warnings under our door that they were going to sacrifice an American for the coming Islamic holiday.


We were very near the University when the whole movement started and angry students were all over our area. Not a comfortable time, especially as the south of the city was going up in flames and the slaughter of the demonstrators by the Iranian guard was happening almost every night.

I Hope You’re Getting the Picture


You might have seen these kinds of events in movies but to experience them first hand is a whole other story. Most Americans have not experienced anything like this. It was several generations ago that saw the last real tough survival conditions in the US. That’s partially what caused my parents’ generation to become so materialistic as they had enough of this scarcity and war and worked their buns off to create a prosperous environment.


We know that was manipulated but the common man was motivated and ingenuity abounded in this American work ethic atmosphere.


The majority of the US population and that of many other prosperous countries have no idea what those conditions are like. Third world countries experience basic hardships on a daily basis and have seen a lot more in their lives that has toughened them up to some of the harsher realities of life. Americans get upset if their game is postponed or favorite TV show is cancelled. I mean people call 9-1-1 if their local fried chicken isn’t available. The place is nuts.


All they’ve known on their own soil are self inflicted wounds like 9/11 and all these staged shootings and bombings to justify the oligarchs’ wars and crackdowns. You can be sure whatever brings on martial law officially will be more of the same. Just as they have imploded every country they’re occupying in the middle east they’re doing the same to their own citizens – financially, mentally, physically, socially and politically.


While it’s as plain as the nose on their entranced collective face they just refuse to see it.


As Mark Twain rightly said, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” How apt.

It’s not nice out there these days. While the wake up rolls on behind the scenes, the charade of projected insanity on the world screen only grows worse and more surreal as the world is pushed further and further from any semblance of sanity and truth.

It’s a dangerous time.

This distended polarization has become so extreme something has to snap – and soon. The danger will increase exponentially when that happens as people have become essentially psychotic to put up with this bullshit bombardment. As a result, everything will be on the rebound when the dam of lies breaks and all these infected minds stretched to their limits begin to snap.

All by design. Brought to you from the minds of psychopathic entities that feed off of all this. Whatever you do, don’t take their mind under any circumstance. Fear is the tractor beam. Stay clear of it, even when everything breaks loose.

Dazed and Crazed

I don’t mean to emphasize the negative here, but this is a reality we need to be well aware of and not get caught up in. I’ve been in countries during martial law and emergency situations and it’s no fun. People really freak out. Fear goes on a rampage, rumors spread like wild fire. When you hear gunshots, I mean big guns, and machine gun fire in the streets, and local establishments get trashed and set on fire, the frosty, false illusion is likewise smashed and the reaction by the mass mind is not an experience you ever want again.

My youngest was born at night during curfew hours in Iran when people were routinely shot. This was during the uprising just before the Shah was booted out and Khomeini arrived in the late 70′s. We had to have a police escort to the hospital which wasn’t easy to arrange. We would have left Iran earlier as the violence escalated but no airline would take my wife being so close to giving birth. So we had to wait until he was born, while several jumbo jets were flown in to evacuate the Americans in Tehran. I was just an English teacher and editor so we weren’t on “the list” to get help anyway.

Even then, after the birth, the US Embassy wouldn’t give us a passport for him unless I could meet all these inane requirements such as proving I was in the US over at least so many years before the age of 21, which at that time would take a document being mailed from the US. The postal system was on strike as was most everything in Iran and the phones were shut down periodically, as was the power. All hell was breaking loose. We got warnings under our door that they were going to sacrifice an American for the coming Islamic holiday.

We were very near the University when the whole movement started and angry students were all over our area. Not a comfortable time, especially as the south of the city was going up in flames and the slaughter of the demonstrators by the Iranian guard was happening almost every night.

I Hope You’re Getting the Picture

You might have seen these kinds of events in movies but to experience them first hand is a whole other story. Most Americans have not experienced anything like this. It was several generations ago that saw the last real tough survival conditions in the US. That’s partially what caused my parents’ generation to become so materialistic as they had enough of this scarcity and war and worked their buns off to create a prosperous environment.

We know that was manipulated but the common man was motivated and ingenuity abounded in this American work ethic atmosphere.

The majority of the US population and that of many other prosperous countries have no idea what those conditions are like. Third world countries experience basic hardships on a daily basis and have seen a lot more in their lives that has toughened them up to some of the harsher realities of life. Americans get upset if their game is postponed or favorite TV show is cancelled. I mean people call 9-1-1 if their local fried chicken isn’t available. The place is nuts.

All they’ve known on their own soil are self inflicted wounds like 9/11 and all these staged shootings and bombings to justify the oligarchs’ wars and crackdowns. You can be sure whatever brings on martial law officially will be more of the same. Just as they have imploded every country they’re occupying in the middle east they’re doing the same to their own citizens – financially, mentally, physically, socially and politically.

While it’s as plain as the nose on their entranced collective face they just refuse to see it.

As Mark Twain rightly said, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” How apt.

I was recently asked to answer the following question: In the original post there is mention of Israel controlling US policy. How exactly does that work?


The short answer is this: A highly influential and extremely well bankrolled collection of groups directs energy simultaneously in a number of directions: Political, media, academic, inter-faith, and other areas, in order to create consent for Israel's policies and to sway politicians to support those policies. The rest of this article examines this process in greater detail, primarily through the words of academics who have studied it for years.


To my mind, Israel's actions, and the extent to which they are enabled by the power of the Zionist lobby is -- or at least should be -- the central moral question confronting Jewish people worldwide, and especially in the US.


To the extent that it isn't, is the clearest indication of the moral degeneration, and ironically, the existential purposelessness which Zionism -- as an answer -- has provided to the Jewish people.


There are no two words which I find more distasteful than "Never Again" -- whether it comes from a Zionist, or my girlfriend. In the case of a Zionist, it is because of the sheer hypocrisy it entails; in the case of my girlfriend, because of its adamantine certainty. (OK, just injecting a little humor into a humorless topic.)


Israel's actions should be of equal concern to any human concerned with Justice and minimizing human suffering, especially Americans and Europeans whose governments support these unjust and genocidal polices, which potentially threaten to escalate and consume the entire world


Because of this, I have followed this topic very closely over the years (I produced and syndicated the first radio program dedicated to covering Palestine from the Palestinian perspective.) – so, rather than deluge people with sources, I will stick with four primary ones: Edward L. Bernays, to help us understand how power is wielded, the seminal paper on the Israel Lobby by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, and similar studies and observations by academic James Petras, and activist Jeffrey Blankfort.


First off, everyone knows that Chomsky is, in many ways, my intellectual godfather. But Chomsky is completely wrong on this issue, just as he is on 9-11. Many lite-Zionists seek to deflect attention away from Israel and Jews, and towards some abstract faceless conception of US State power.


I have written a lot about understanding power lately, but more as subsidiary to other issues, like understanding Obama. In reality, the topic deserves its own extended post and comments thread to fully flesh out my concepts. However, in the interests of time and space, let me be as brief as possible.


I do believe in the primacy of structural analysis in understanding the actions of Power. But Chomsky concentrates too much on executive power, at the expense of other types of power: Congressional, Judicial, and, especially, organizational.


It was Edward L. Bernays, nephew of Sigmund Freud, in his groundbreaking 1928 book, “Propaganda” who first develops the theory by which opinions are formed among people and power is wielded. It is as incumbent for anyone who struggles for any cause whatsoever to read this book, as it is incumbent upon one who seeks to understand Christianity to read the Bible. Here are some brief excerpts:


It is the purpose of this book to explain the structure of the mechanism which controls the public mind, and to tell how it is manipulated by the special pleader who seeks to create public acceptance for a particular idea or commodity.


THE conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.


We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society...


It is not usually realized how necessary these invisible governors are to the orderly functioning of our group life. In theory, every citizen may vote for whom he pleases. Our Constitution does not envisage political parties as part of the mechanism of government, and its framers seem not to have pictured to themselves the existence in our national politics of anything like the modern political machine. But the American voters soon found that without organization and direction their individual votes, cast, perhaps, for dozens or hundreds of candidates, would produce nothing but confusion. Invisible government, in the shape of rudimentary political parties, arose almost overnight. Ever since then we have agreed, for the sake of simplicity and practicality, that party machines should narrow down the field of choice to two candidates, or at most three or four.


In theory, every citizen makes up his mind on public questions and matters of private conduct. In practice, if all men had to study for themselves the abstruse economic, political, and ethical data involved in every question, they would find it impossible to come to a conclusion about anything. We have voluntarily agreed to let an invisible government sift the data and high-spot the outstanding issues so that our field of choice shall be narrowed to practical proportions. From our leaders and the media they use to reach the public, we accept the evidence and the demarcation of issues bearing upon public questions; from some ethical teacher, be it a minister, a favorite essayist, or merely prevailing opinion, we accept a standardized code of social conduct to which we conform most of the time...


As civilization has become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly demonstrated, the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be regimented...


When the Constitution was adopted, the unit of organization was the village community, which produced the greater part of its own necessary commodities and generated its group ideas and opinions by personal contact and discussion directly among its citizens. But to-day, because ideas can be instantaneously transmitted to any distance and to any number of people, this geographical integration has been supplemented by many other kinds of grouping, so that persons having the same ideas and interests may be associated and regimented for common action even though they live thousands of miles apart.


It is extremely difficult to realize how many and diverse are these cleavages in our society. They may be social, political, economic, racial, religious or eth- ical, with hundreds of subdivisions of each. In the World Almanac, for example, the following groups are listed under the A's:...


Present-day politics places emphasis on personality. An entire party, a platform, an international policy is sold to the public, or is not sold, on the basis of the intangible element of personality. A charming candidate is the alchemist's secret that can transmute a prosaic platform into the gold of votes.


The public is not made up merely of Democrats and Republicans. People to-day are largely uninterested in politics and their interest in the issues of the campaign must be secured by coordinating it with their personal interests. The public is made up of interlocking groups —economic, social, religious, educational, cultural, racial, collegiate, local, sports, and hundreds of others.


When President Coolidge invited actors for breakfast, he did so because he realized not only that actors were a group, but that audiences, the large group of people who like amusements, who like people who amuse them, and who like people who can be amused, ought to be aligned with him...


The political campaign having defined its broad objects and its basic plans, having defined the group appeal which it must use, must carefully allocate to each of the media at hand the work which it can do with maximum efficiency.


The media through which a political campaign may be brought home to the public are numerous and fairly well defined. Events and activities must be created in order to put ideas into circulation, in these channels, which are as varied as the means of human communication. Every object which presents pictures or words that the public can see, everything that presents intelligible sounds, can be utilized in one way or another.


At present, the political campaigner uses for the greatest part the radio, the press, the banquet hall, the mass meeting, the lecture platform, and the stump generally as a means for furthering his ideas. But this is only a small part of what may be done. Actually there are infinitely more varied events that can be created to dramatize the campaign, and to make people talk of it. Exhibitions, contests, institutes of politics, the cooperation of educational institutions, the dramatic cooperation of groups which hitherto have not been drawn into active politics, and many others may be made the vehicle for the presentation of ideas to the public.


But whatever is done must be synchronized accurately with all other forms of appeal to the public. News reaches the public through the printed word— books, magazines, letters, posters, circulars and banners, newspapers; through pictures—photographs and motion pictures; through the ear—lectures, speeches, band music, radio, campaign songs. All these must be employed by the political party if it is to succeed. One method of appeal is merely one method of appeal and in this age wherein a thousand movements and ideas are competing for public attention, one dare not put all one's eggs into one basket.


In March of 2006, the intellectual world was set aflame by the London Review of Books publishing an edited, but still quite substantial version of the paper by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, “The Israel Lobby.” Here are some excerpts:


So if neither strategic nor moral arguments can account for America’s support for Israel, how are we to explain it?


The explanation is the unmatched power of the Israel Lobby. We use ‘the Lobby’ as shorthand for the loose coalition of individuals and organisations who actively work to steer US foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction. This is not meant to suggest that ‘the Lobby’ is a unified movement with a central leadership, or that individuals within it do not disagree on certain issues. Not all Jewish Americans are part of the Lobby, because Israel is not a salient issue for many of them. In a 2004 survey, for example, roughly 36 per cent of American Jews said they were either ‘not very’ or ‘not at all’ emotionally attached to Israel.


Jewish Americans also differ on specific Israeli policies. Many of the key organisations in the Lobby, such as the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organisations, are run by hardliners who generally support the Likud Party’s expansionist policies, including its hostility to the Oslo peace process. The bulk of US Jewry, meanwhile, is more inclined to make concessions to the Palestinians, and a few groups – such as Jewish Voice for Peace – strongly advocate such steps. Despite these differences, moderates and hardliners both favour giving steadfast support to Israel.


They then go on to methodically detail just who those groups are and how they wield power.


Not surprisingly, American Jewish leaders often consult Israeli officials, to make sure that their actions advance Israeli goals. As one activist from a major Jewish organisation wrote, ‘it is routine for us to say: “This is our policy on a certain issue, but we must check what the Israelis think.” We as a community do it all the time.’ There is a strong prejudice against criticising Israeli policy, and putting pressure on Israel is considered out of order. Edgar Bronfman Sr, the president of the World Jewish Congress, was accused of ‘perfidy’ when he wrote a letter to President Bush in mid-2003 urging him to persuade Israel to curb construction of its controversial ‘security fence’. His critics said that ‘it would be obscene at any time for the president of the World Jewish Congress to lobby the president of the United States to resist policies being promoted by the government of Israel.’


Similarly, when the president of the Israel Policy Forum, Seymour Reich, advised Condoleezza Rice in November 2005 to ask Israel to reopen a critical border crossing in the Gaza Strip, his action was denounced as ‘irresponsible’: ‘There is,’ his critics said, ‘absolutely no room in the Jewish mainstream for actively canvassing against the security-related policies . . . of Israel.’ Recoiling from these attacks, Reich announced that ‘the word “pressure” is not in my vocabulary when it comes to Israel.’


Jewish Americans have set up an impressive array of organisations to influence American foreign policy, of which AIPAC is the most powerful and best known. In 1997, Fortune magazine asked members of Congress and their staffs to list the most powerful lobbies in Washington. AIPAC was ranked second behind the American Association of Retired People, but ahead of the AFL-CIO and the National Rifle Association. A National Journal study in March 2005 reached a similar conclusion, placing AIPAC in second place (tied with AARP) in the Washington ‘muscle rankings’.


The Lobby also includes prominent Christian evangelicals like Gary Bauer, Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed and Pat Robertson, as well as Dick Armey and Tom DeLay, former majority leaders in the House of Representatives, all of whom believe Israel’s rebirth is the fulfilment of biblical prophecy and support its expansionist agenda; to do otherwise, they believe, would be contrary to God’s will. Neo-conservative gentiles such as John Bolton; Robert Bartley, the former Wall Street Journal editor; William Bennett, the former secretary of education; Jeane Kirkpatrick, the former UN ambassador; and the influential columnist George Will are also steadfast supporters.


The US form of government offers activists many ways of influencing the policy process. Interest groups can lobby elected representatives and members of the executive branch, make campaign contributions, vote in elections, try to mould public opinion etc. They enjoy a disproportionate amount of influence when they are committed to an issue to which the bulk of the population is indifferent. Policymakers will tend to accommodate those who care about the issue, even if their numbers are small, confident that the rest of the population will not penalise them for doing so....


The Lobby pursues two broad strategies. First, it wields its significant influence in Washington, pressuring both Congress and the executive branch. Whatever an individual lawmaker or policymaker’s own views may be, the Lobby tries to make supporting Israel the ‘smart’ choice. Second, it strives to ensure that public discourse portrays Israel in a positive light, by repeating myths about its founding and by promoting its point of view in policy debates. The goal is to prevent critical comments from getting a fair hearing in the political arena. Controlling the debate is essential to guaranteeing US support, because a candid discussion of US-Israeli relations might lead Americans to favour a different policy.


A key pillar of the Lobby’s effectiveness is its influence in Congress, where Israel is virtually immune from criticism. This in itself is remarkable, because Congress rarely shies away from contentious issues. Where Israel is concerned, however, potential critics fall silent. One reason is that some key members are Christian Zionists like Dick Armey, who said in September 2002: ‘My No. 1 priority in foreign policy is to protect Israel.’ One might think that the No. 1 priority for any congressman would be to protect America. There are also Jewish senators and congressmen who work to ensure that US foreign policy supports Israel’s interests.


Another source of the Lobby’s power is its use of pro-Israel congressional staffers. As Morris Amitay, a former head of AIPAC, once admitted, ‘there are a lot of guys at the working level up here’ – on Capitol Hill – ‘who happen to be Jewish, who are willing . . . to look at certain issues in terms of their Jewishness . . . These are all guys who are in a position to make the decision in these areas for those senators . . . You can get an awful lot done just at the staff level.’


AIPAC itself, however, forms the core of the Lobby’s influence in Congress. Its success is due to its ability to reward legislators and congressional candidates who support its agenda, and to punish those who challenge it. Money is critical to US elections (as the scandal over the lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s shady dealings reminds us), and AIPAC makes sure that its friends get strong financial support from the many pro-Israel political action committees. Anyone who is seen as hostile to Israel can be sure that AIPAC will direct campaign contributions to his or her political opponents. AIPAC also organises letter-writing campaigns and encourages newspaper editors to endorse pro-Israel candidates.


There is no doubt about the efficacy of these tactics. Here is one example: in the 1984 elections, AIPAC helped defeat Senator Charles Percy from Illinois, who, according to a prominent Lobby figure, had ‘displayed insensitivity and even hostility to our concerns’. Thomas Dine, the head of AIPAC at the time, explained what happened: ‘All the Jews in America, from coast to coast, gathered to oust Percy. And the American politicians – those who hold public positions now, and those who aspire – got the message.’


AIPAC’s influence on Capitol Hill goes even further. According to Douglas Bloomfield, a former AIPAC staff member, ‘it is common for members of Congress and their staffs to turn to AIPAC first when they need information, before calling the Library of Congress, the Congressional Research Service, committee staff or administration experts.’ More important, he notes that AIPAC is ‘often called on to draft speeches, work on legislation, advise on tactics, perform research, collect co-sponsors and marshal votes’.


The bottom line is that AIPAC, a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on Congress, with the result that US policy towards Israel is not debated there, even though that policy has important consequences for the entire world. In other words, one of the three main branches of the government is firmly committed to supporting Israel. As one former Democratic senator, Ernest Hollings, noted on leaving office, ‘you can’t have an Israeli policy other than what AIPAC gives you around here.’ Or as Ariel Sharon once told an American audience, ‘when people ask me how they can help Israel, I tell them: “Help AIPAC.”’


Thanks in part to the influence Jewish voters have on presidential elections, the Lobby also has significant leverage over the executive branch. Although they make up fewer than 3 per cent of the population, they make large campaign donations to candidates from both parties. The Washington Post once estimated that Democratic presidential candidates ‘depend on Jewish supporters to supply as much as 60 per cent of the money’. And because Jewish voters have high turn-out rates and are concentrated in key states like California, Florida, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania, presidential candidates go to great lengths not to antagonise them.


Key organisations in the Lobby make it their business to ensure that critics of Israel do not get important foreign policy jobs. Jimmy Carter wanted to make George Ball his first secretary of state, but knew that Ball was seen as critical of Israel and that the Lobby would oppose the appointment. In this way any aspiring policymaker is encouraged to become an overt supporter of Israel, which is why public critics of Israeli policy have become an endangered species in the foreign policy establishment.


When Howard Dean called for the United States to take a more ‘even-handed role’ in the Arab-Israeli conflict, Senator Joseph Lieberman accused him of selling Israel down the river and said his statement was ‘irresponsible’. Virtually all the top Democrats in the House signed a letter criticising Dean’s remarks, and the Chicago Jewish Star reported that ‘anonymous attackers . . . are clogging the email inboxes of Jewish leaders around the country, warning – without much evidence – that Dean would somehow be bad for Israel.’


This worry was absurd; Dean is in fact quite hawkish on Israel: his campaign co-chair was a former AIPAC president, and Dean said his own views on the Middle East more closely reflected those of AIPAC than those of the more moderate Americans for Peace Now. He had merely suggested that to ‘bring the sides together’, Washington should act as an honest broker. This is hardly a radical idea, but the Lobby doesn’t tolerate even-handedness.


During the Clinton administration, Middle Eastern policy was largely shaped by officials with close ties to Israel or to prominent pro-Israel organisations; among them, Martin Indyk, the former deputy director of research at AIPAC and co-founder of the pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP); Dennis Ross, who joined WINEP after leaving government in 2001; and Aaron Miller, who has lived in Israel and often visits the country. These men were among Clinton’s closest advisers at the Camp David summit in July 2000. Although all three supported the Oslo peace process and favoured the creation of a Palestinian state, they did so only within the limits of what would be acceptable to Israel. The American delegation took its cues from Ehud Barak, co-ordinated its negotiating positions with Israel in advance, and did not offer independent proposals. Not surprisingly, Palestinian negotiators complained that they were ‘negotiating with two Israeli teams – one displaying an Israeli flag, and one an American flag’.


The situation is even more pronounced in the Bush administration, whose ranks have included such fervent advocates of the Israeli cause as Elliot Abrams, John Bolton, Douglas Feith, I. Lewis (‘Scooter’) Libby, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz and David Wurmser. As we shall see, these officials have consistently pushed for policies favoured by Israel and backed by organisations in the Lobby.


The Lobby doesn’t want an open debate, of course, because that might lead Americans to question the level of support they provide. Accordingly, pro-Israel organisations work hard to influence the institutions that do most to shape popular opinion.


The Lobby’s perspective prevails in the mainstream media: the debate among Middle East pundits, the journalist Eric Alterman writes, is ‘dominated by people who cannot imagine criticising Israel’. He lists 61 ‘columnists and commentators who can be counted on to support Israel reflexively and without qualification’. Conversely, he found just five pundits who consistently criticise Israeli actions or endorse Arab positions. Newspapers occasionally publish guest op-eds challenging Israeli policy, but the balance of opinion clearly favours the other side. It is hard to imagine any mainstream media outlet in the United States publishing a piece like this one.


‘Shamir, Sharon, Bibi – whatever those guys want is pretty much fine by me,’ Robert Bartley once remarked. Not surprisingly, his newspaper, the Wall Street Journal, along with other prominent papers like the Chicago Sun-Times and the Washington Times, regularly runs editorials that strongly support Israel. Magazines like Commentary, the New Republic and the Weekly Standard defend Israel at every turn.


Editorial bias is also found in papers like the New York Times, which occasionally criticises Israeli policies and sometimes concedes that the Palestinians have legitimate grievances, but is not even-handed. In his memoirs the paper’s former executive editor Max Frankel acknowledges the impact his own attitude had on his editorial decisions: ‘I was much more deeply devoted to Israel than I dared to assert . . . Fortified by my knowledge of Israel and my friendships there, I myself wrote most of our Middle East commentaries. As more Arab than Jewish readers recognised, I wrote them from a pro-Israel perspective.’

It’s hilarious.

I’m still rolling on the floor laughing my socks off at a report by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

What’s the joke? Well, it’s no joke really. The USCIRF has just released its 2013 Annual Report http://www.uscirf.gov/images/2013 US...Report (2).pdf on the world’s worst violators of religious freedom. And… you simply won’t believe this… it doesn’t even mention the worst offender of all, Israel.

Truly. It’s like Israel doesn’t exist…

I am regularly bombarded with reports of Israel’s religious persecution of Christians and their Muslim brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. This week included an account http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=592219 of how Israel continues to cause “countless difficulties” for Palestinian Christians and Muslims trying to reach their holy sites.

“It is not only that Israel has isolated our occupied capital from the rest of our country — forcing our people to apply for special military permits to access their families and holy places for religious occasions — but even Palestinians from Jerusalem were beaten when trying to reach the Church of the Holy Sepulchre,” said Hanna Amireh, a member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Presidential Committee on Church Affairs.

The Israeli forces turned a religious occasion into a battle camp scenario, she said. “What was witnessed in Jerusalem was an attempt to cancel a tradition of 700 years. The Israeli government is doing everything possible in order to achieve its goal of changing Jerusalem’s landscape, by building more settlements, demolishing more Palestinian homes, revoking more IDs and by attempting to prevent the normal celebration of Christian and Muslim religious events.”

This week also saw Jewish settlers storming the Aqsa mosque. The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation accused Israel of pursuing a systematic policy of aggression against holy places in occupied Jerusalem.

One of the world’s leading terrorists, the mass murderer Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has been summoned to China where he will be confronted with evidence of his involvement in the March 11, 2011 nuclear and tsunami terror attack against Japan, according to Chinese government sources. The evidence is a tape recorded phone call to then Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan in which Netanyahu threatened to destroy all of Japan’s nuclear reactors if Kan did not order the Japanese government to write off its holdings of US government debt, according to Japanese military intelligence. In exchange for sweeping this issue under the carpet, the 180 nation BRICS alliance will demand an end to all further war-mongering in the Middle East. The Israeli use of a nuclear bunker buster bomb against Syria just before Netanyahu’s departure was a futile gesture of defiance as the worldwide crackdown on the Sabbatean Satanic mafia unfolds.

In a related development, the UK Police and Crime Commission have opened an investigation into the Thames Valley police, Sara Thornton in particular, concerning, among other things, the murder of bio-weapons specialist Dr. David Kelly. This is part of a wider police investigation into the cabal that fooled the UK government into participating in the invasion of Iraq. The heads of MI5, the London Metropolitan Police counter terror squad and of UK Special Forces have all left their posts, according to an MI5 source. Several journalists have also been arrested, he said. Many witnesses of substance (military) are coming forward in support having realized the UK police have been acting outside correct procedures in many instances, according to an MI5 source. “The emphasis will now be on internal investigations of corruption in the Police and Civil service,” the source said. The Cabinet Secretary, Sir Jeremy Heywood, Head of the Civil Service, will also find his position under close scrutiny. Then Prime Minister Tony Blair has already been investigated and has basically sung like a canary. Blair has already implicated many EU leaders as having accepted bribes in exchange for allowing the Soviet Union modeled EU to gradually usurp the sovereignty of European nation states.

This of course, is a preliminary to investigations that will finally bring justice to the perpetrators of the 911 terror and mind-control attack against the US. The wheels of justice will roll towards George Bush Jr., Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Frank Carlucci, Michael Chertoff and the entire fascist cabal that seized control of the US following the rigged year 2000 election, according to patriotic CIA and Pentagon sources.

The question remains just how far down the rabbit hole the whole crackdown on the perpetrators of 911, 311 and related events will go. The problem is concentrated at the top and it is very difficult for military and law enforcement types used to following orders from above to take action against their “superiors.”

When you have a supreme court that has been threatened and intimidated into submission, a Congress and Senate that have been mostly bribed and a President who is a puppet, then going through them is not a realistic option in dealing with the criminal fascist takeover of the US.

My understanding is that the joint chiefs of staff of the Pentagon are the best hope for restoring the US Republic and freeing the American people. What they need to understand is that it is not going to be any court case that will settle the problem.

Intro*duc*tion
The dark horse of the New World Order is not Com*mu*nism, Socialism or Fas*cism: It is Technocracy.


The devel*op*ment and imple*men*ta*tion of Smart Grid tech*nology in the U.S. – reinventing the elec*trical grid with Wifi-enabled dig*ital power meters – is pro*ceeding at break*neck speed. Although Smart Grid is the result of years of gov*ern*ment plan*ning, the recent kickoff was made pos*sible through mas*sive “green” grants that were qui*etly included in Pres*i*dent Obama’s eco*nomic stim*ulus package starting in 2009.


These lucra*tive grants have drawn in a host of cor*po*rate players, from utility com*pa*nies to dig*ital meter man*u*fac*turers to con*trol soft*ware ven*dors. Global com*pa*nies like IBM, GE and Siemens are putting their full effort behind the “build-out” that will con*sol*i*date all of America into a single, inte*grated, communication-enabled elec*tric delivery and mon*i*toring system, col*lec*tively called Smart Grid.


Pro*po*nents of Smart Grid claim that it will empower the con*sumer to better manage his or her power con*sump*tion and hence, costs. The utility com*pa*nies will there*fore be more effi*cient in bal*ancing power loads and require*ments across diverse markets.


How*ever, like car*nival barkers, these Smart Grid hock*sters never reveal where or how Smart*Grid came into being, nor what the ulti*mate endgame aims to achieve; per*haps most of them have no idea either, but simply repeat the mantra as if they know what they are talking about.


In Smart*Grid: The Imple*men*ta*tion of Tech*noc*racy?, I revealed the back*ground of both Tech*noc*racy and Smart Grid, and most impor*tantly, the links between them. Smart Grid is born out of Tech*noc*racy and not the other way around.


Tech*noc*racy is a total*i*tarian system of gov*ern*ment where sci*en*tists, engi*neers and tech*ni*cians mon*itor and con*trol all facets of per*sonal and civic life – eco*nomic, social and polit*ical. Herein lies the real danger: Who are these unelected con*trollers and why should anyone believe that they would be benev*o*lent dic*ta*tors instead of tyrants? Amer*i*cans are a freedom-loving people who would cer*tainly reject Technocracy’s stealth takeover, if only they were aware of it. Indeed, Amer*i*cans did point*edly reject Tech*noc*racy in the 1930′s!


Thirty years ago, a researcher’s mantra was “Follow the money, follow the power.” This must now be restated: “Follow the energy, follow the power.”


Require*ments
In 1932, Tech*noc*racy, Inc. called for the destruc*tion of price-based eco*nomic sys*tems and the cre*ation of an energy-based accounting system that would mea*sure inputs and out*puts of human activity in terms of energy pro*duc*tion, dis*tri*b*u*tion and con*sump*tion. The require*ments for a suc*cessful system was co-authored by M. King Hub*bert, a young geo-physicist who later devel*oped “Hubbert’s Peak Oil Theory” that pro*vided intel*lec*tual backing for the modern envi*ron*mental or “green” movement.


Specif*i*cally, Hub*bert detailed the require*ments for a suc*cessful imple*men*ta*tion of Technocracy:


“Reg*ister on a con*tin*uous 24 hour-per-day basis the total net con*ver*sion of energy.
“By means of the reg*is*tra*tion of energy con*verted and con*sumed, make pos*sible a bal*anced load.
“Pro*vide a con*tin*uous inven*tory of all pro*duc*tion and consumption
“Pro*vide a spe*cific reg*is*tra*tion of the type, kind, etc., of all goods and ser*vices, where pro*duced and where used
“Pro*vide spe*cific reg*is*tra*tion of the con*sump*tion of each indi*vidual, plus a record and descrip*tion of the indi*vidual.” [Scott, Howard et al, Tech*noc*racy Study Source, p. 232]
Of course, the tech*nology to ful*fill these require*ments did not exist in 1932. How*ever, it is worth noting that Tech*noc*racy Inc.’s lead*er*ship was inti*mately familiar with the early work of Inter*na*tional Busi*ness Machine’s (IBM) com*puting tech*nology. They clearly envi*sioned a time in the future where the advance*ment of the tech*nology would meet the min*imum level nec*es*sary to imple*ment these requirements.


That day of advanced tech*nology has come and the project is now called Smart Grid. The endgame is to imple*ment a mod*ern*ized ver*sion of his*toric Tech*noc*racy on a national, con*ti*nental and global basis.


It is strongly rec*om*mended that the reader care*fully review Smart*Grid: The Imple*men*ta*tion of Tech*noc*racy and Carbon Cur*rency: A New Begin*ning for Tech*noc*racy? to gain a solid per*spec*tive on the his*tor*ical aspect of Technocracy.


Some would argue that it is mere coin*ci*dence that these require*ments are fully met with Smart Grid tech*nology. How*ever, the rea*sons for the exis*tence of Tech*noc*racy in the 1930′s are the same rea*sons given today: Energy effi*ciency, load bal*ancing, fair*ness, alle*vi*ating poverty and hunger, etc.


The feigned con*cern for those in poverty and hunger in the under*de*vel*oped nations is hollow. Tech*noc*racy is point*edly amoral in its prac*tice: The means (their sci*en*tific method/process) jus*ti*fies the end, what*ever the end might turn out to be.


Going Global
In addi*tion to the United States, Smart Grid is being imple*mented in both Canada and Mexico. Plan*ners are working on stan*dards that will inte*grate all of North America into a single, uni*fied Smart Grid system.


More*over, there is a serious ini*tia*tive underway to create a Global Smart Grid that will inte*grate all the con*ti*nents on the globe!


The Global Energy Net*work Insti*tute (GENI) presents this Dymaxion ™ Map of the world from the per*spec*tive of the North Pole that reveals the global grid cur*rently under con*struc*tion. The only part of planet earth left untouched is Antarc*tica. The yellow lines rep*re*sent high-voltage elec*trical trans*mis*sion links that are capable of trans*fer*ring large amounts of energy from con*ti*nent to continent.






The GENI project is gath*ering momentum and is endorsed by the Dalai Lama, Arch*bishop Desmond Tutu, Sen. James Jef*fords (I-VT) and Noel Brown (North Amer*ican Director, United Nations Envi*ron*mental Pro*gram), the United Nations and by the gov*ern*ments of Canada New Zealand, Switzer*land, and China, among others.

The con*cept of a Net*work of Things was pre*sented in “Smart Grid: The Imple*men*ta*tion of Tech*noc*racy?” As the tra*di*tional Internet con*nects people (e.g., Face*book, e-mail, videos, web sites), the Energy Web will con*nect inan*i*mate objects like ther*mostats, appli*ances, meters, sta*tion con*trollers, data col*lec*tion and con*trol com*puter sys*tems, etc. for the auto*matic bal*ancing of load con*sump*tion across the target power grid. Once com*puter pro*grams and algo*rithms are in place, such a grid will operate autonomously with min*imal human intervention.


Gen*esis of Global Smart Grid: R. Buck*min*ster Fuller
The GENI web*site credits the late R. Buck*min*ster Fuller (1895 – 1983) as the con*cep*tual father and designer of the global energy net*work. In his 1982 book, Crit*ical Path, Fuller wrote,


“This world elec*tric grid, with its omni-integrated advan*tage, will deliver its elec*tric energy any*where, to anyone, at any one time, at one common rate. This will make a world-around uni*form costing and pricing system for all goods and ser*vices based real*is*ti*cally on the time-energy meta*bolic accounting system of Universe.


“In this cos*mi*cally uni*form, common energy-value system for all humanity, costing will be expressed in kilowatt-hours, watt-hours and watt-seconds of work. Kilowatt-hours will become the prime cri*teria of costing the pro*duc*tion of the com*plex of meta*bolic involve*ments per each func*tion or item. These uni*form energy val*u*a*tions will replace all the world’s wildly inter-varying, opinion-gambled-upon, top-power-system-manipulatable mon*e*tary sys*tems. If this sounds familiar, it should: It is an unvar*nished re-hash of 1930′s-style Tech*noc*racy, except on a global, versus con*ti*nental, scale. Elec*tricity is deliv*ered equally to all, and the the price-based eco*nomic system is replaced by a “time-energy world accounting system” based on kilowatt-hours, watt-hours and watt-seconds.


There is no evi*dence that such a system will ever work, but that hasn’t stopped global groups from rushing head*long into this global ini*tia*tive. Take, for instance, the World Eco*nomic Forum…


World Eco*nomic Forum and Cli*mate Change
If a skeptic were to ques*tion the seri*ous*ness of orga*ni*za*tions like Ter*rawatts and GENI, they should con*sider that the elitist World Eco*nomic Forum (WEF) has thrown its col*lec*tive weight behind the ini*tia*tive. It has man*aged to link the advance*ment of Smart Grid to the reduc*tion of carbon emis*sions, thus promising a tan*gible way to fight global warming.

China has called the United States the real “hacking empire” following a report by the Pentagon that accused Beijing of trying to break into Washington’s defense computer network.


“As we all know, the United States is the real 'hacking empire' and has an extensive espionage network,” read a statement that ran on the website of China’s Defense Ministry.


Earlier, China’s Foreign Ministry also dismissed the recent accusations by Washington as groundless.


The Pentagon’s recent report accused China of running a hacking campaign against Washington in 2012, aimed at providing Beijing with information about America’s military capabilities and policy deliberations.

It stretched from the Caspian to the Baltic Sea, from the middle of Europe to the Kurile Islands in the Pacific, from Siberia to Central Asia. Its nuclear arsenal held 45,000 warheads, and its military had five million troops under arms. There had been nothing like it in Eurasia since the Mongols conquered China, took parts of Central Asia and the Iranian plateau, and rode into the Middle East, looting Baghdad. Yet when the Soviet Union collapsed in December 1991, by far the poorer, weaker imperial power disappeared.


And then there was one. There had never been such a moment: a single nation astride the globe without a competitor in sight. There wasn’t even a name for such a state (or state of mind). “Superpower” had already been used when there were two of them. “Hyperpower” was tried briefly but didn’t stick. “Sole superpower” stood in for a while but didn’t satisfy. “Great Power,” once the zenith of appellations, was by then a lesser phrase, left over from the centuries when various European nations and Japan were expanding their empires. Some started speaking about a “unipolar” world in which all roads led… well, to Washington.


To this day, we’ve never quite taken in that moment when Soviet imperial rot unexpectedly – above all, to Washington — became imperial crash-and-burn. Left standing, the Cold War’s victor seemed, then, like an empire of everything under the sun. It was as if humanity had always been traveling toward this spot. It seemed like the end of the line.


The Last Empire?


After the rise and fall of the Assyrians and the Romans, the Persians, the Chinese, the Mongols, the Spanish, the Portuguese, the Dutch, the French, the English, the Germans, and the Japanese, some process seemed over. The United States was dominant in a previously unimaginable way — except in Hollywood films where villains cackled about their evil plans to dominate the world.


As a start, the U.S. was an empire of global capital. With the fall of Soviet-style communism (and the transformation of a communist regime in China into a crew of authoritarian “capitalist roaders”), there was no other model for how to do anything, economically speaking. There was Washington’s way — and that of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (both controlled by Washington) — or there was the highway, and the Soviet Union had already made it all too clear where that led: to obsolescence and ruin.




In addition, the U.S. had unprecedented military power. By the time the Soviet Union began to totter, America’s leaders had for nearly a decade been consciously using “the arms race” to spend its opponent into an early grave. And here was the curious thing after centuries of arms races: when there was no one left to race, the U.S. continued an arms race of one.


In the years that followed, it would outpace all other countries or combinations of countries in military spending by staggering amounts. It housed the world’s most powerful weapons makers, was technologically light years ahead of any other state, and was continuing to develop future weaponry for 2020, 2040, 2060, even as it established a near monopoly on the global arms trade (and so, control over who would be well-armed and who wouldn’t).


It had an empire of bases abroad, more than 1,000 of them spanning the globe, also an unprecedented phenomenon. And it was culturally dominant, again in a way that made comparisons with other moments ludicrous. Like American weapons makers producing things that went boom in the night for an international audience, Hollywood’s action and fantasy films took the world by storm. From those movies to the golden arches, the swoosh, and the personal computer, there was no other culture that could come close to claiming such a global cachet.


The key non-U.S. economic powerhouses of the moment — Europe and Japan — maintained militaries dependent on Washington, had U.S. bases littering their territories, and continued to nestle under Washington’s “nuclear umbrella.” No wonder that, in the U.S., the post-Soviet moment was soon proclaimed “the end of history,” and the victory of “liberal democracy” or “freedom” was celebrated as if there really were no tomorrow, except more of what today had to offer.


No wonder that, in the new century, neocons and supporting pundits would begin to claim that the British and Roman empires had been second-raters by comparison. No wonder that key figures in and around the George W. Bush administration dreamed of establishing a Pax Americana in the Greater Middle East and possibly over the globe itself (as well as a Pax Republicana at home). They imagined that they might actually prevent another competitor or bloc of competitors from arising to challenge American power. Ever.


No wonder they had remarkably few hesitations about launching their incomparably powerful military on wars of choice in the Greater Middle East. What could possibly go wrong? What could stand in the way of the greatest power history had ever seen?


Assessing the Imperial Moment, Twenty-First-Century-Style


Almost a quarter of a century after the Soviet Union disappeared, what’s remarkable is how much — and how little — has changed.


On the how-much front: Washington’s dreams of military glory ran aground with remarkable speed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Then, in 2007, the transcendent empire of capital came close to imploding as well, as a unipolar financial disaster spread across the planet. It led people to begin to wonder whether the globe’s greatest power might not, in fact, be too big to fail, and we were suddenly — so everyone said — plunged into a “multipolar world.”


Meanwhile, the Greater Middle East descended into protest, rebellion, civil war, and chaos without a Pax Americana in sight, as a Washington-controlled Cold War system in the region shuddered without (yet) collapsing. The ability of Washington to impose its will on the planet looked ever more like the wildest of fantasies, while every sign, including the hemorrhaging of national treasure into losing trillion-dollar wars, reflected not ascendancy but possible decline.


And yet, in the how-little category: the Europeans and Japanese remained nestled under that American “umbrella,” their territories still filled with U.S. bases. In the Euro Zone, governmentscontinued to cut back on their investments in both NATO and their own militaries. Russia remained a country with a sizeable nuclear arsenal and a reduced but still large military. Yet it showed no signs of “superpower” pretensions. Other regional powers challenged unipolarity economically — Turkey and Brazil, to name two — but not militarily, and none showed an urge either singly or in blocs to compete in an imperial sense with the U.S.

Signs of the diminution of US power have been proliferating since the crisis. Geopolitically, revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt signalled that the US’s lid on Middle Eastern popular aspirations was blown off.


The western intervention in Libya went ahead only with Russian and Chinese consent and without US leadership. And today the US fights shy of George Bush Jr style unilateral action against the erstwhile ‘axis of evil’ – Iran, Syria and North Korea – while, back at the ranch, its astronomical defence spending faces sequestration.


Signs of decline are less clear on other chief front of US power. The US dollar’s mixed fortunes have attracted considerable attention since 2008. Every upturn allegedly signals its continuing world role and downturns lead to questions about that role and debates about the future of the international monetary system.


Xiaochuan Zhou, governor of China’s Central Bank, for instance, proposed replacing the dollar with a ‘super-sovereign’ currency like the one John Maynard Keynes outlined during the war-time negotiations at Bretton Woods. Though the US rejected it then, the idea re-emerges punctually when the dollar runs into trouble as it so frequently does. This time, however, it is unlikely to go away.


Few are today aware of the impending end of the dollar’s world role largely because it is surrounded by obfuscations. Two are particularly relevant for the BRICS and emerging economies.


One is the notion of US hegemony which implies that the dollar can only be displaced by a new more powerful ‘hegemon’ able and willing to internationalise its currency.

Questions about China’s relative strength and the alleged difficulties of internationalising the yuan are ‘Exhibit A and B’ here. Secondly, we are told that there the BRICs, pre-eminently China, will not abandon the dollar because of their large dollar reserves. These obfuscations prevent clarity on developments to come.
The idea of US ‘hegemony’ is old and deeply entrenched. Whether or not the US is considered still ‘hegemonic’, the idea that it once was is practically an article of faith. The reality is otherwise. True, the world dominance of the world’s first industrial country, the UK, was inevitable and sterling served as the world’s currency in the 19th century. True also that US policy-makers sought to emulate such dominance in the 20th century and lacking formal colonies they settled for making the dollar the world’s currency.


However, what is less well-known is that 20th century conditions made even this impossible. Without colonial surpluses to export to provide the world dollar liquidity stably, the US resorted to providing it through balance of payments deficits.


These were subject to the ‘Triffin Dilemma”: though necessary to provide liquidity, they drove down the dollar’s value. And after 1973, maintaining the dollar’s world role required generating successive dollar-denominated and US-centered financializations – excesses of financial activity unrelated to productive or commercial activity – which inflated international capital flows to ever higher levels.


Initially the economic damage these short-term financial flows wreaked could be externalised and the world witnessed an increase in financial crises, culminating in the East Asian Financial Crisis in 1997-8.


However, with the stock market and housing bubbles of the late 1990s and 2000s, the financialization now rested on damaging asset bubbles at home. After the housing bubble burst no new financialization has emerged to cover up the underlying economic rot and to give the dollar another reprieve, however, temporary. After their massive collapse in 2008, international capital flows recovered to only 40 per cent of their peak before declining again.

The soldiers were trapped between slow moving clouds of the grey-green poisonous gas. Those of their friends standing further away panicked as the green-death silently swallowed their friends.
This scene from WWI won’t repeat itself. Not because humanity has experience an epiphany and returned to the Kingdom of God, but because more efficient gases have been developed.

In the first days of May 2013, the world is witnessing an escalation in the war between Syria and Israel. The two countries are formally at war; thus any act of violence between them, like the recent Israeli airstrike, amounts as an act of war. Both countries are armed with chemical weapons. Could the situation deteriorate into chemical warfare? How would such an event look?


The June 16, 2011, edition of the Economist, included an article titled “Nuclear endgame: The growing appeal of zero;” it analyzed a previous Wall Street Journal article by Henry Kissinger, Bill Perry, George Shultz and Sam Nunn. In the article, it was claimed that: “The risk of accidents, misjudgments or unauthorised launches… was growing more acute in a world of rivalries.” This referred to nuclear weapons; sadly it is no less true for chemical weapons of mass destruction. I disagree with Kissinger and his friends. “The risk of accidents, misjudgments or unauthorised launches,” is language used by civil servants attempting to cover-up unjustifiable crimes. Let me fix the misleading phrase into the “certainty of a human error.” Chlorine is in the air. Don’t won’t war? Ban weapons! Don’t won’t war? Don’t attack!


Who Used Chemical Weapons?


Israeli White Phosphorous Artillery Shells used during Operation Cast Lead Back To Basics: A Study Of The Second Lebanon War And Operation Cast Lead


The IDF regularly uses White Phosphorous munitions; they are labeled “white smoke” (ashan lavan) and are used mainly for creating smoke screens. However, during Operation Cast Leadthey were used against civilians and UN targets. This included at least one brutal attack against a civilian hospital. The very clear pictures broadcast over the mainstream media by international networks, forced Israel to admit the crimes, though no sanctions were imposed by the international community, with the clear exception of defining Israel as a terror inflicting entity by the UN Human Rights Council.


In Israeli Anthrax Developer Resigns, other Israeli weapons are described. The events became public on October 4, 1992, when El Al Flight 1862, crashed into Amsterdam. Many people died and were injured by this Boeing 747 cargo plane. The cargo included over 280 kilograms of depleted uranium, which is used for certain types of missiles, and 190 liters of dimethyl methylphosphonate, which could be used in the synthesis of Sarin nerve gas. The owner of the latter was the IIBR, Israel Institute of Biological Research. In other words, Israel is a proven player in the chemical weapons theater.


The other active player was identified on May 5, 2013. Carla Del Ponte, member of the United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on Syria declared that the commission’s investigators have gathered testimony from casualties of Syria’s civil war and medical workers indicating that rebel forces have used the nerve agent sarin. These mercenary forces has been supported by Israel and the West.


Secret Programs


This race has been kept secret by the two sides involved. One of the reasons for that is that the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction is very strict, and Israel is a signatory country. It is administered by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which is based in The Hague. Syria and Israel keep stockpiles of various chemical weapons.

The Syrian program is easier to follow. Syrian chemical weapons production facilities have been identified by Western nonproliferation experts at Cerin, Hama, Homs, Latakia, and Palmyra. Homs is one of the most restive cities in the ongoing conflict, thus creating real safety concerns. The sites apparently manufacture Sarin, Tabun, VX, and mustard gas types of chemical weapons, which can be launched on Scud missiles towards any location in Israel.


The situation in Israel is extremely secretive. Much more is known about Israel’s nuclear weapons program that about its chemical one. There are credible claims that Israel Military Industries are involved in the production of certain chemical weapons, apparently through their Nazareth plant. Then, Israel’s largest ordnance stockpile—placed next to one of the country’s nuclear reactors—keeps a large amount of chemical artillery. NATO keeps bunkers in Israel filled up with military equipment. There is an understanding that the IDF will use their undisclosed—but rumored—contents in the case of need. One of these bunkers is placed next to the abovementioned ordnance base.


The Chemical Weapons Convention is a political document; as such, it includes political compromises. In order to avoid misinterpretations, it includes a list of forbidden chemicals and their precursors. It includes also a definition of what a chemical weapon is. Not surprisingly, these two slightly contradict each other.


The Convention article’s “Definition and Criteria” defines a chemical weapon in subparagraph 1.b as “Munitions and devices, specifically designed to cause death or other harm through the toxic properties of those toxic chemicals specified in …” Paragraph 2 clarifies what a “toxic chemical” is: “Any chemical which through its chemical action on life processes can cause death, temporary incapacitation or permanent harm to humans or animals. This includes all such chemicals, regardless of their origin or of their method of production, and regardless of whether they are produced in facilities, in munitions or elsewhere.”


This is so clear that there is no way of excluding white phosphorous from this list. White phosphorous has been used in smoke, tracer, illumination and incendiary munitions since the 19th century; notoriously in the Vietnam War. Ammunitions containing it burst into burning flakes of phosphorus upon impact and can cause serious burns. Phosphorous reacts exothermically with water; since human bodies contain large amounts of this liquid, it ignites upon content and burns until it is completely consumed. Its wounds are brutal and difficult to heal; hence it has been banned. Yet, white phosphorous is not part of the Chemical Weapons Convention, but is banned by the less strict Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, which prohibits the use of said incendiary weapons against civilians (already forbidden by the Geneva Conventions) or in civilian areas.
In other words, it defines Israel as a transgressor, due to its documented production and use of such horrific means. President Bush was wrong, the WMD were in Tel Aviv, not in Baghdad. What a silly confusion!

All Empires Crash Soon After They Reach Their Peak

Thomas Edison said, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.” And because I love my country, I frequently criticize America’s shortcomings in the hopes of making her better.


But the truth is that the United States is not unusual … it is just like all other empires which have hit their peak and then quickly crashed.


We noted in 2008:


Political insider and veteran reporter Kevin Phillips has documented that every major empire over the past several hundred years has undergone a predictable cycle of collapse, usually within 10 to 20 years of its peak power.


The indications are always the same:


- The financialization of the economy, moving from manufacturing to speculation;


- Very high levels of debt;


- Extreme economic inequality;


– And costly military overreaching.


We wrote in 2009:


In 2000, America was described as the sole remaining superpower – or even the world’s “hyperpower”. Now we’re in real trouble (at the very least, you have to admit that we’re losing power and wealth in comparison with China).

How Empires Fall


Paul Farrel provides a bigger-picture analysis, quoting Jared Diamond and Marc Faber.


Diamond’s book’s, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, studies the collapse of civilizations throughout history, and finds:


Civilizations share a sharp curve of decline. Indeed, a society’s demise may begin only a decade or two after it reaches its peak population, wealth and power…


One of the choices has depended on the courage to practice long-term thinking, and to make bold, courageous, anticipatory decisions at a time when problems have become perceptible but before they reach crisis proportions


And PhD economist Faber states:


How [am I] so sure about this final collapse?


Of all the questions I have about the future, this is the easiest one to answer. Once a society becomes successful it becomes arrogant, righteous, overconfident, corrupt, and decadent … overspends … costly wars … wealth inequity and social tensions increase; and society enters a secular decline.


[Quoting 18th century Scottish historian Alexander Fraser Tytler:] The average life span of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years progressing from “bondage to spiritual faith … to great courage … to liberty … to abundance … to selfishness … to complacency … to apathy … to dependence and … back into bondage”


[Where is America in the cycle?] It is most unlikely that Western societies, and especially the U.S., will be an exception to this typical “society cycle.” … The U.S. is somewhere between the phase where it moves “from complacency to apathy” and “from apathy to dependence.”


In other words, America’s rapid fall is not really that novel after all.


How Consumers, Politicians and Wall Street All Contributed to the Fall


On the individual level, people became “fat and happy”, the abundance led to selfishness (“greed is good”), and then complacency, and then apathy.


Indeed, if you think back about tv and radio ads over the last couple of decades, you can trace the tone of voice of the characters from Gordon Gecko-like, to complacent, to apathetic and know-nothing.


On the political level, there was no courage in the White House or Congress “to practice long-term thinking, and to make bold, courageous, anticipatory decisions”. Of course, the bucket-loads of donations from Wall Street didn’t hurt, but there was also a religion of deregulation promoted by Greenspan, Rubin, Gensler and others which preached that the economy was self-stabilizing and self-sustaining. This type of false ideology only can spread during times of abundance and complacency, when an empire is at its peak and people can fool themselves into thinking “the empire has always been prosperous, we’ve solved all of the problems, and we will always prosper” (incidentally, this type of false thinking was also common in the 1920′s, when government and financial leaders said that the “modern banking system” – overseen by the Federal Reserve – had destroyed instability once and for all).

Preface: Fundamentalist Christians, Jews and Muslims all think they are in a “holy war” against the other guy. As shown below, fundamentalists are being manipulated by the powers-that-be – many of whom are actually atheists – as part of a divide-and-conquer strategy to disempower people.

The 2,000 Year Old Strategy

The strategy of dividing and conquering one’s foes is ancient.

Ancient Roman emperor Julius Cesar successfully used it thousands of years ago.

The application of the strategy in controlling one’s own people – divide and rule – has been used for just as long. As Wikipedia notes:

Elements of this technique involve:

-creating or encouraging divisions among the subjects to prevent alliances that could challenge the sovereign
-aiding and promoting those who are willing to cooperate with the sovereign
-fostering distrust and enmity between local rulers [or groups]
-encouraging meaningless expenditures that reduce the capability for political [organization or opposition] …..

In discussing the use of “divide and rule” in the U.S., Wikipedia discusses the “Use of left-right politics“.

Indeed – even though the Founding Fathers warned us against the danger of a two-party system to divide the nation – left-right partisan divisions have successfully been deployed to distract and weaken the American people for centuries.

Religion has been used for the same purpose:

England invaded Ireland in 1170, but for the first 439 years it was a conquest in name only. In 1609, however, James I founded the Plantation of Ulster, imported 20,000 Protestant settlers, and introduced religious strife as a political tactic. By favoring Protestants over the native Catholics in politics and economics-the so-called “Ulster Privilege-the English pitted both groups against one another.

The tactic was enormously successful, and England used it throughout its colonial empire. Nowhere were the British so successful in transplanting the Irish model than in India.

As prime minister [Churchill] once said that he hoped that the tension between Hindus and Muslims would remain “A bulwark of British rule in India.”

The British were not alone in using religion as a tactic to divide and conquer. The French employed it quite successfully in Lebanon and Vietnam. In the former, Paris favored Maronite Christians over Muslims (and Sunni Muslims over Shiite Muslims), and in the latter, Catholics over Buddhists.

Exploiting religious differences hardly ended with the demise of the great colonial empires.

The French continue to exploit religious divisions in Lebanon, and the U.S. is currently trying to cobble together a Sunni united front to confront Washington’s three opponents in the Middle East: Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Syria is mostly Sunni, but Bashar al-Assad’s regime is dominated by Alawites, a variety of Shiism. Some 60 percent of Lebanon is Shiite.

But Shiites only constitute about 12 percent of Islam, and while Washington talks of a “Shiia crescent” as if it constituted some kind of united front, in fact there are enormous differences between Arab Syria and Lebanon, and non-Arabic speaking Iran.

Religion is increasingly being used to ramp up the fear factor in international politics.

Indeed, ramping up hatred and fear of other religions is an easy way for any government to consolidate power and rationalize war.

“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

No wonder the powers-that-be in the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia do everything possible to whip up fear of foreign religions.

What it (Israeli regime) is doing in Syria is a blatant international crime, in direct violation of international law. Currently, Syria and its allies hold the moral high ground against an enemy who is no longer fooling the world. If it is calculated that Syria can survive Israel’s unprovoked brutality, it would be best to do little or nothing, and incur internationally the same outrage that accompanies Israel’s brutality against the Palestinians.”


The US feigns disassociation with Hitlerian act of Israeli aggression - as was planned since 2007.


Unprovoked, Israel has attacked Syria numerous times over the past 2 days, including attacks on the Syrian capital of Damascus, in what appears to be a series of intentional provocations designed to drag the region into a wider conflict its US sponsors can then enter militarily. Neither attacked directly by Syria, nor able to cite credible evidence in regards to perceived threats Israel claims to be reacting to, the assault on Syria represents a Chapter VII breach of the United Nations Charter.


What’s more is that while the US feigns disassociation with Israel’s breach of international peace, after jointly fueling a genocidal sectarian conflict within Syria’s borders for the past two years, it is documented fact that the US and Saudi Arabia planned to use Israel to conduct military attacks against Iran and Syria, they themselves could not justify politically, legally, or strategically.


What is now hoped is that Syria and Iran retaliate militarily, allowing the “other shoe to drop,” and for the US, UK, France, and their regional axis to directly intervene in Syria.


Insidious ploy engineered and documented in 2007-2009


As early as 2007, it was reported that a US-Saudi-Israeli conspiracy to overthrow the governments of Iran and Syria by arming sectarian terrorists, many linked directly to Al Qaeda, was already set in motion. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh in his 2007 New Yorker article “The Redirection” stated:


“To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush Administration has decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in the Middle East. In Lebanon, the Administration has cooperated with Saudi Arabia’s government, which is Sunni, in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite organization that is backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda.”


Of Israel and Saudi Arabia’s partnership it specifically stated:


“The policy shift has brought Saudi Arabia and Israel into a new strategic embrace, largely because both countries see Iran as an existential threat. They have been involved in direct talks, and the Saudis, who believe that greater stability in Israel and Palestine will give Iran less leverage in the region, have become more involved in Arab-Israeli negotiations.”


Additionally, Saudi Arabian officials mentioned the careful balancing act their nation must play in order to conceal its role in supporting US-Israeli ambitions across the region. It was stated even then that using Israel to publicly carry out attacks on Iran would be preferable to the US, which would ultimately implicate the Saudis. It was stated:


“The Saudi said that, in his country’s view, it was taking a political risk by joining the U.S. in challenging Iran: Bandar is already seen in the Arab world as being too close to the Bush Administration. ‘We have two nightmares,’ the former diplomat told me. ‘For Iran to acquire the bomb and for the United States to attack Iran. I’d rather the Israelis bomb the Iranians, so we can blame them. If America does it, we will be blamed.’”


This ploy was further developed in 2009 by the Fortune 500-funded (page 19) Brookings Institution in their document, “Which Path to Persia?” in regards to Iran, and now clearly being utilized against Syria, the gambit was described as follows:


“…it would be far more preferable if the United States could cite an Iranian provocation as justification for the airstrikes before launching them. Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be. Of course, it would be very difficult for the United States to goad Iran into such a provocation without the rest of the world recognizing this game, which would then undermine it. (One method that would have some possibility of success would be to ratchet up covert regime change efforts in the hope that Tehran would retaliate overtly, or even semi-overtly, which could then be portrayed as an unprovoked act of Iranian aggression.)” - page 84-85, Which Path to Persia?, Brookings Institution.

May 2, 2013 – The media – the mainstream media, that is – is saturated with endless blather assuring us that the economic “recovery” is well under way in the U.S. People should prepare for the opposite.

Endless Blather

One cannot look at a mainstream media outlet without being inundated with perception-shaping “evidence” that the U.S. economic “recovery” is under way, whether the evidence is in the form of brisk automobile sales (fueled by subprime loans), robust housing sales (fueled by subprime loans), a rising stock market (fueled by the Federal Reserve’s various quantitative easing schemes), falling bond prices (fueled by the Federal Reserve’s purchase of 90% of the U.S. Government’s debt), falling unemployment (thanks to rigged statistics and the ever burgeoning “service sector”) or the low inflation rate (thanks to rigged statistics and willful official blindness to the fact that people eat food and consume energy resources). Why is it that for the last, oh, I don’t know, decade or more we seem to have been in continuous “recovery” mode, but almost everyone is worse off?

The Current State of the Union

My long held thesis is that scientific expertise, industrial might, national wealth and the standard of living peaked in the U.S. in the mid 1970s, and all have been steadily eroding ever since. A cursory examination of numerous statistics, such as the inflation-adjusted salaries of Americans today compared to those of the 1970s reinforces my thesis. The 1970s also represented a peak in the civil liberties enjoyed by Americans, a metric that’s tightly correlated with the country’s economic well being; as our civil liberties have been steadily eroded since the 1970s, so too has our economic condition steadily deteriorated.

The bursting of the stock market bubble in the year 2000 marked an inflection point from the slow, steady decline that began a quarter century earlier into a full speed ahead economic collapse. Since the year 2000 we’ve witnessed several financial bubbles and the utilization of previously inconceivable deceptive tactics to conceal or slow the collapse, but to no avail. As the economy collapses, the government, fearing for its own survival, has turned on the people, both to protect itself from the wrath of the people once the economic collapse becomes palpable to all (hence the urgent agenda to confiscate guns), and to forcibly extract ever more wealth from the people in order to survive (ObamaCare is such an example). As the economic collapse accelerates, so too does the torrent of anti-citizen, draconian legislation pouring out of the government. Going forward, Americans should prepare themselves for increasingly vicious attacks from their government as the economy continues to unravel.

It’s incredibly symbolic that one of the iconic symbols of America’s peak in the 1970s, the World Trade Center, was destroyed right after the country shifted into full blown economic collapse in the year 2000.

In recognition of the inexorable future speeding toward us, the educational system here has all but ceased actually educating people – what’s the point if there are no jobs requiring an education? – and has shifted to inculcating in students obeisance to authority. That’s why the schools today increasingly look like, and function like prisons – to prepare students for a future “career” in one of the many new private, for-profit slave labor prisons being constructed – and why schools continue to enforce absurd “zero tolerance” policies, to reinforce in students that authority must be obeyed above all, no matter how asinine are the demands of the “authorities.” The icing on the cake is convincing naive students to voluntarily shackle themselves to a lifetime of indebtedness in exchange for a college degree that’s worthless in today’s climate.

How We Got Here

Globalization

The superhighway to our economic ruin is a long one, spanning many generations and governmental administrations, but the chief cause of our current predicament is the wholesale abandonment of our industrial base, a process that accelerated rapidly following the establishment of the globalization framework embodied in organizations and treaties such as the WTO, GATT and NAFTA, and in particular, following the granting of Most Favored Nation trade status to China in the 1990s. Once that happened, U.S. companies were free to relocate to China without any trade disadvantages, and China welcomed them with open arms. As I suggested in Economic Warfare?, it would have been a brilliant strategy for China to import as much of the U.S. industrial base as possible in order to rapidly build up its own industrial base, even if such a strategy required China to subsidize the process by purchasing U.S. debt. Now that China possesses a well developed industrial base, its appetite for U.S. debt has curiously evaporated, thus reinforcing my hypothesis.

I don’t mean to pick on China, by the way; I don’t blame China one bit for wanting to modernize and elevate its standard of living. In addition, the U.S. began exporting its industrial base to other countries, notably Japan, long before China gained Most Favored Nation trade status. No, the blame for the U.S.’ misguided strategy of pursuing a “service economy” lies squarely with the U.S.

During the last four decades, the U.S. has behaved like a person who walked away from a good job, expecting to live off his credit cards, just like I outlined in my fable titled, Sam And Ming.

One of the insidious consequences of jettisoning our industrial base is that we have forgotten how to do many things. Whereas we once had a broad and deep, vertically integrated educational-engineering-manufacturing capability, today we depend increasingly on foreign companies to design and build our entertainment devices, appliances, automobiles and even our airplanes (just ask Boeing how well that has worked out with its new 787 airplane).

In ditching our manufacturing base, the scientific and engineering talent has gradually followed, for there is little reason for the U.S. to keep graduating or hiring scientists and engineers without a manufacturing base for them to work within, which explains why so many PhD holders in America today are doing menial jobs. The best prospects for such graduates today are in Asia, particularly India and China. Unfortunately, given the poor quality of the U.S. educational system, which emphasizes obeisance to authority and political correctness over education, Americans who migrate to Asia in search of employment will find themselves seriously outclassed.

Embracing Dependence

Concomitant with government and corporate policies that have dismantled our industrial base, the citizenry has acquiesced to its new role as a ward of the state. As the government has grown more powerful, it has simultaneously encouraged the citizens to become dependent on the government, for food, housing, health care and so forth, in order to secure the fealty of the citizens, for people who become dependent aren’t going to bite the hand that feeds them. As with most trends, this trend of embracing dependence harbors its own perverse behavioral extreme, known as Adult Baby Syndrome, wherein adults who have elected to abdicate all personal responsibility dress up in baby clothes, sit in oversized high chairs and behave like infants, full time, while their equally perverse “significant other” cares for them. How messed up does one have to be to be on either side of that equation?

Even immigrants to this country – legal or otherwise – are greeted with the message that they too can become dependents – devoted slaves. The U.S. Government operates a website called WelcomeToUSA.gov, which among other things, lists the “benefits” available to immigrants. As with the benefits lavished on the citizens, the benefits lavished on the immigrants are intended to secure the fealty of the immigrants. The growing tyranny of the government and the willing dependence of the people go hand in hand.

The growing dependence of the populace on the government also coincides with the substitution of large-scale corporate farming in place of the family farm, a once ubiquitous institution in America that in addition to providing a resilient source of good quality food for families, gave people a sense of independence, self-efficacy and worth. Abandonment of these noble character traits is a prerequisite to becoming a dependent of the state.

Corruption (of Everything)

Nothing in America has escaped the corrupting influence of having psychopaths in every position of power, whether in government or corporations. Although I have studied psychopathy for years, it wasn’t until someone else pointed out that corporations behave like psychopaths that I recognized the obvious truth in that observation. The two principal defining traits of psychopaths are the lack of empathy and remorse, both of which are evident in all corporations. Another trait of psychopaths is their ability to logically and efficiently pursue their goals without regard to the consequences, which is also evident in the cold-hearted manner in which corporations pursue profits. Ironically, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that corporations are “people,” which makes labeling corporations as psychopaths all the more appropriate.

Psychopaths are extremely well suited for clawing their way to the top of their social environment, whether it be in the corporate or government realm, so it should not be surprising to observe that governmental and corporate institutions that are headed by psychopaths behave like psychopaths. Finally, psychopaths recognize and prefer the company of other psychopaths, and psychopaths are comfortable in the service of other psychopaths, perhaps hoping one day to fill the shoes of their superior. As a result, corporate and governmental institutions tend to become dominated by psychopaths from the top down, gradually pushing “normal” people out of the institution.

The reason for dwelling on the nature of psychopaths and their relationship to governmental and corporate institutions is that what “normal” people view as “corruption” is simply efficient business practice to a psychopath. For instance, when a psychopathic CEO makes a campaign contribution – America’s euphemism for a bribe – to a politician, he’s not making that contribution out of the goodness of his heart or because he shares the principles of the politician (neither has any principles), but in exchange for favorable legislation that will boost his corporation’s profits; the potential profits ensuing from the legislation greatly exceed the cost of the “bribe,” so it’s a logical expenditure. Or when a CEO decides to dump lethal toxins into the environment, he does so because the potential cost of getting caught and fined is far less than the cost of disposing of those toxins in an environmentally safe fashion; it’s just business. The difference between a psychopathic CEO and a “normal” person is that a normal person would consider the effects those toxins might have on the environment or the unsuspecting people exposed to them, that is, a normal person would empathize with the would-be victims; a psychopath is incapable of such empathy; to a psychopath, the equation is a simple one: dumping the toxins irresponsibly is cheaper than disposing of them responsibly.

This simple, logical reasoning is also found in politicians. For instance, politicians occasionally switch political parties, proving that they have no conviction to any particular ideology; their decision to switch parties is purely pragmatic, aimed at securing their office for another term. When a politician accepts a bribe – I mean, a campaign contribution – from a corporation in exchange for legislation beneficial to the corporation, from the politician’s point of view the campaign contribution is a necessary evil for getting reelected, as if remaining in office was the politician’s sole duty. The politician has little regard for the consequences of the legislation he helps pass, even if the consequences include harming the very constituents the politician supposedly represents; the politician has no empathy for his constituents, nor any remorse for his actions.

We Americans have permitted psychopaths to gain complete control over everything in our country: the government, the corporations, the educational system, the health care system, everything. They, in turn, have behaved exactly as we could have anticipated, including pursuing the logical policy of exporting our industrial base to increase profits, even if only temporarily. One must understand, these psychopaths have no loyalty to anything but themselves; they couldn’t care less about gutting the country’s long term ability to generate real wealth if doing so would increase the immediate income of the psychopaths who are responsible. Every institutionalized form of corruption in the U.S. is the result of a psychopath seeking to maximize profits.

The legal profession has played a key role in legitimizing corruption and the perversion of “justice” in this country, aiding and abetting the psychopaths who are pillaging the country, while helping to subject the citizens to ever more callous and capricious treatment.

Even after further arrests the media are still not getting it. Terrorism is a state-sponsored phenomenon and terrorists rarely act alone. They normally need help from penetration assets in the target country – manifestly the case with the Boston bombers. There is usually a support network in the target country and there always has to be someone to provide the cash.


Asking what the terrorists’ motives were is pretty pointless if the target is assigned by the sponsoring intelligence agency. It was always likely to be the DVD at Boston. There is therefore no need to ask why Chechens would attack an American target instead of a Russian one.


Since the FBI are penetrated by the DVD there is no great mystery as to why they were allowed to fly freely in and out of the USA and why the FSB’s warnings were ignored. Further intel has come to light suggesting that the FSB had done really good work in monitoring this family and their associates. Comparing them with Thames Valley Police is like comparing the US Marines with the Cub Scouts.


Since the FSB, unlike Thames Valley Police, know about the DVD, they will not have been too surprised that the attack was allowed to proceed. Not the least shameful thing is that the families will be lied to repeatedly in the years ahead, like the 7/7 families were lied to in Britain. That attack was of course sponsored by GO2, the German operation in London. We are still lying to the families of the victims of IRA terrorism thirty years after we discovered that the Germans were sponsoring the IRA and that there was a covert German agency called the DVD. I had a conversation with a minister in the Thatcher government, some years ago, who told me testily that we had known all about the DVD and the IRA in the 1980s. I could have hit him – why didn’t we do anything about it?


Two comments about prevention of further attacks. Firstly the usefulness of CCTV has once again been demonstrated. But for store CCTV these terrorists would never have been identified. The great thing about commercial CCTV is that retailers can just drop the tapes round to a local TV station. Had they been official tapes they might have been suppressed on orders from a DVD asset high up in the Department of Justice. I well recall how CCTV footage of Madeleine McCann in a transport café (truck stop) near Montpelier was suppressed by Paris, once facial recognition technology had confirmed that it was her. Where the DVD are involved you get official corruption you wouldn’t believe.


I know there are privacy issues but it’s the old public safety/privacy balance. CCTV makes streets safer. Privacy comes at a cost.

As The Daily Currant "reports", in protest over the proposed soda ban in NY, the owners of Collegno's Pizzeria in Brooklyn refused to serve Mayor Michael Bloomberg a second slice of pizza during an informal lunch meeting. When Bloomberg requested the second slice, the owner retorted, "I'm sorry sir, we can't do that. You've reached your personal slice limit." The exchange quickly escalated with the Mayor dropping f-bombs and the restaurant's owner climaxing with, "there's nothing I can do; maybe you could go to several restaurants and get one slice at each. At least that way you're walking. You know, burning calories." A fuming Bloomberg left the pizzeria and finished his meeting (and more pizza) at a rival restaurant.

"Hey, could I get another pepperoni over here?" Bloomberg asked owner Antonio Benito.

"I'm sorry sir," he replied, "we can't do that. You've reached your personal slice limit."

"I'm sorry sir. We're serious," Benito insisted. "We've decided that eating more than one piece isn't healthy for you, and so we're forbidding you from doing it."

"Look jackass," Bloomberg retorted, his anger boiling, "I fucking skipped breakfast this morning just so I could eat four slices of your pizza. Don't be a schmuck, just get back to the kitchen and bring out some fucking pizza, okay."

Unfortunately, a small minority of Muslims still accepts the official myth of 9/11. That neo-conned minority includes some who view “al-Qaeda” as the heroic freedom fighters they claim to be. And among that tiny handful of people, some might be tempted to participate in “al-Qaeda” plots – most of which are arranged by the FBI, Craft International, the Mossad, and related agencies.


So in the interest of fighting terrorism, and saving the next gullible Muslim teenager from being set up by the FBI, I’m republishing Elias Davidsson’s terrific article pointing out that “al-Qaeda” hardly ever targets the US, and never, ever targets Israel – the real dajjal, the ultimate enemy of Islam. Instead, “al-Qaeda” specializes in killing large numbers of Muslims, while giving Islam as much negative publicity as possible and legitimizing the mass murder of Muslims in imperial and Zionist wars.

Who are Al Qaeda’s enemies?

In a fatwa allegedly issued by Osama bin Laden in 1998, he called on Muslims to kill Americans and Jews in order to contribute to the liberation of the Muslim people from US and Zionist oppression. After that date, Osama bin Laden was designated by Western leaders and media as the leader of the ubiquitous Al Qaeda, and as the prime enemy of Western democracy.


Taking Osama bin Laden’s fatwa seriously, one would have expected Muslim volunteers to start a world-wide campaign of attacks specifically targeting Americans and Jews around the world. We discover, however, that this did not happen. On the contrary, hardly any Jews and Israelis were attacked by Al Qaeda. And only a few Americans died at the hand of Al Qaeda operatives. Here a brief overview:
Al Qaeda does not target Israelis, Jews and Americans


(a) Despite Al Qaeda rhetoric of solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people and the aforementioned fatwa attributed to Osama bin Laden, there are no recorded attacks by Al Qaeda aimed at Israeli territory, Israeli installations abroad or Israeli citizens.


(b) There are only two or three known attacks attributed to Al Qaeda that allegedly targeted Jewish synagogues (Djerba, Tunisia and Istanbul, Turkey). Yet in Djerba no Jew is known to have died (most victims were German tourists) and in Istanbul most victims were Muslims. These attacks were, incidentally, not properly investigated. There are no known Al Qaeda attacks directed against European or North-American Jews.


(c) A few attacks attributed to or claimed by Al Qaeda were, admittedly, aimed at American citizens or installations. A review of these attacks demonstrates, however, the complicity of the U.S. authorities in each of these attacks:


- The attack on the WTC in 1993 was facilitated by the FBI, as revealed in the trial of the suspects.


- The attack on the US embassies in East Africa in 1998 was facilitated by a US covert agent, Ali Mohamed, a declared operative of both the CIA and FBI. His participation was revealed in court.


- The massive and deadly operation on September 11, 2001, caused the deaths of 3,000 people, for the most part Americans. Yet, it is now well established that these attacks were most likely mounted by the US military, without even a nominal participation by Al Qaeda. At the very least, there is not a shred of forensic evidence that Al Qaeda members or sympathizers participated in the operation and the FBI admitted in June 2006 that it possessed no evidence of a connection between Osama bin Laden and the attacks.


(d) Despite the availability of thousands of vulnerable U.S. targets worldwide, including numerous U.S.-based corporations, American tourists and loosely defended U.S. military bases, Al Qaeda has refrained from attacking these targets.


Who are the actual victims of Al Qaeda?


1. Muslims
Most Al Qaeda victims are Muslims, particularly Shi’a Muslims and moderate, secularized Muslims.


In Iraq
The largest deadly campaign by Al Qaeda against Shi’a Muslims has taken place in Iraq. Thousands of Shi’a Muslims have been literally slaughtered by Al Qaeda operatives in Iraq since the demise of the Saddam regime. Hardly a week passes in which no terrorist attack against Iraqi Shi’a is mounted by Al Qaeda. Sometimes, such attacks are presented as emanating from former supporters of Saddam Hussein.

Kennedy and the AIPAC


In May 1963, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations opened an investigation into the covert activities of foreign agents on U.S. soil, focusing in particular on the American Zionist Council and the Jewish Agency for Israel. [1] The investigation was prompted by a report from the Chairman of that standing Committee, Senator J. William Fulbright, written in March 1961 (declassified in 2010), stating: "In recent years there has been an increasing number of incidents involving attempts by foreign governments, or their agents, to influence the conduct of American foreign policy by techniques outside normal diplomatic channels." By covert activities, including "within the United States and elsewhere," Fulbright was referring to the 1953 "Lavon Affair" [2], where a group of Egyptian Jews was recruited by Israel to carry out bomb attacks against British targets, which were to be blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood so as to discredit Nasser in the eyes of the British and Americans.


The Senate investigation brought to light a money laundering racket through which the Jewish Agency (indivisible from the State of Israel and a precursor to the Israeli Government) was channelling tens of millions of dollars to the American Zionist Council, the main Israeli lobby in the United States. Following this investigation, the Department of Justice, under the authority of Attorney General Robert Kennedy, ordered the American Zionist Council to register as "agents of a foreign government," subject to the requirements of the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, involving the close monitoring of its activities.


This attempt to counter Israel’s growing interference in U.S. politics undoubtedly enjoyed the support of the President. At the time when he was still a young journalist covering the United Nations inaugural conference, John Kennedy was troubled by Israel’s ability to buy politicians, up to and including the President himself. By recognizing the State of Israel on May 15, 1948, (just ten minutes after its official proclamation) despite the unanimous disapproval of his government, President Harry Truman not only gained a place in biblical history ("Truman’s historic act of recognition will remain forever inscribed in golden letters in the 4000-year history of the Jewish people”, declared the Israeli ambassador), he also pocketed two million dollars to revitalize his re-election campaign. "That’s why our recognition of Israel was rushed through so fast,” Kennedy told his friend novelist and essayist Gore Vidal [3].


In 1960, John Kennedy himself received a financial aid offer from the Israeli lobby for his presidential campaign. He decoded Abraham Feinberg’s proposal for his journalist friend Charles Bartlett in the following terms: "We know your campaign is in trouble. We’re willing to pay your bills if you’ll let us have control of your Middle East policy." Bartlett recalls Kennedy’s promise that "if he ever did get to be President, he was going to do something about it [4]." Between 1962 and 1963, he submitted seven campaign finance reform bills but all were defeated by the influential groups they sought to restrain.


All government efforts to stymie the corruption of American democracy by Israeli agents were stopped short by Kennedy’s assassination and his brother’s replacement at the Department of Justice by Nicholas Katzenbach. The American Zionist Council evaded foreign agent status by dissolving and renaming itself American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Ten years later (April 15, 1973), Fulbright commented on CBS: "Israel controls the U.S. Senate. [...] The great majority of the Senate of the U.S. – somewhere around 80 percent – are completely in support of Israel; anything Israel wants Israel gets." AIPAC continued the same practices, dodging any sanction even when its members were caught red-handed in acts of espionage and high treason. In 2005, two AIPAC officials, Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman, were acquitted after having received from a member of the Pentagon Office of Special Plans, Larry Franklin, documents classified as Secret-Defense which they transmitted to a senior Israeli official.


In 2007, John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt demonstrated in their book The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy that AIPAC and less prominent pro-Israel lobbies were the main cause of the war in Iraq and, more broadly, the determining factor in the foreign policy of the U.S. in the Middle East. Considering that nothing has changed, there is no reason to believe that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu will not also obtain from the United States the destruction of Iran that it consistently clamors for.

Terrorism Is a Real Threat … But the Threat to the U.S. from Muslim Terrorists Has Been Exaggerated


An FBI report shows that only a small percentage of terrorist attacks carried out on U.S. soil between 1980 and 2005 were perpetrated by Muslims.


Princeton University’s Loon Watch compiled the following chart from the FBI’s data:

According to this data, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism within the United States than Islamic (7% vs 6%). These radical Jews committed acts of terrorism in the name of their religion. These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions, just like Al-Qaeda and company.


(Loon Watch also notes that less than 1% of terror attacks in Europe were carried out by Muslims.)


U.S. News and World Report noted in February of this year:


Of the more than 300 American deaths from political violence and mass shootings since 9/11, only 33 have come at the hands of Muslim-Americans, according to the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security. The Muslim-American suspects or perpetrators in these or other attempted attacks fit no demographic profile—only 51 of more than 200 are of Arabic ethnicity. In 2012, all but one of the nine Muslim-American terrorism plots uncovered were halted in early stages. That one, an attempted bombing of a Social Security office in Arizona, caused no casualties.


Wired reported the same month:


Since 9/11, [Charles Kurzman, Professor of Sociology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, writing for the Triangle Center on Terrorism and National Security] and his team tallies, 33 Americans have died as a result of terrorism launched by their Muslim neighbors. During that period, 180,000 Americans were murdered for reasons unrelated to terrorism. In just the past year, the mass shootings that have captivated America’s attention killed 66 Americans, “twice as many fatalities as from Muslim-American terrorism in all 11 years since 9/11,” notes Kurzman’s team.


Law enforcement, including “informants and undercover agents,” were involved in “almost all of the Muslim-American terrorism plots uncovered in 2012,” the Triangle team finds. That’s in keeping with the FBI’s recent practice of using undercover or double agents to encourage would-be terrorists to act on their violent desires and arresting them when they do — a practice critics say comes perilously close to entrapment. A difference in 2012 observed by Triangle: with the exception of the Arizona attack, all the alleged plots involving U.S. Muslims were “discovered and disrupted at an early stage,” while in the past three years, law enforcement often observed the incubating terror initiatives “after weapons or explosives had already been gathered.”


The sample of Muslim Americans turning to terror is “vanishingly small,” Kurzman tells Danger Room. Measuring the U.S. Muslim population is a famously inexact science, since census data don’t track religion, but rather “country of origin,” which researchers attempt to use as a proxy. There are somewhere between 1.7 million and seven million American Muslims, by most estimates, and Kurzman says he operates off a model that presumes the lower end, a bit over 2 million. That’s less a rate of involvement in terrorism of less than 10 per million, down from a 2003 high of 40 per million, as detailed in the chart above.

April 23, 2013 (LD) - As the FBI reels from what now appears to be revelations it was directly involved in the Boston Marathon bombings, a deluge of FBI "success" stories have been "serendipitously" splashed across Western headlines. Among them was an allegedly "foiled" terror attack in Canada, reported to be the work of terrorists supported by "Al-Qaeda operatives in Iran." The Globe and Mail, in its report, "Canada joins U.S. in alleging al-Qaeda has operatives based in Iran," states:
"To many, it came as a surprise that the RCMP is alleging that two terror suspects arrested in Canada on Monday were supported by al-Qaeda operatives in Iran.
The Sunni-based al-Qaeda and Shia Iran belong to different branches of Islam that have been at odds historically. But in recent years U.S. officials have formally alleged that Iran has allowed al-Qaeda members to operate out of its territory."
Both at face value and upon deeper examination, this assertion is utterly absurd, divorced from reality, and indicative of the absolute contempt within which the Western establishment holds the global public. In reality, the West, the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel in particular, have propped up and perpetuated Al Qaeda for the very purpose of either undermining or overthrowing the governments of Iran, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Libya, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and beyond.


Regarding Iran in particular, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh in his 2007 New Yorker piece titled, "The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefiting our enemies in the war on terrorism?" would state:


To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush Administration has decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in the Middle East. In Lebanon, the Administration has coöperated with Saudi Arabia’s government, which is Sunni, in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite organization that is backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda.
In a follow up, Hersh in his 2008 New Yorker piece titled, "Preparing the Battlefield: The Bush Administration steps up its secret moves against Iran," spelled out a damning indictment of US involvement in bolstering, arming, and funding terror organizations, not linked to, but described as actually being Al Qaeda.


Of American support for Al Qaeda the report states (emphasis added):
The Administration may have been willing to rely on dissident organizations in Iran even when there was reason to believe that the groups had operated against American interests in the past. The use of Baluchi elements, for example, is problematic, Robert Baer, a former C.I.A. clandestine officer who worked for nearly two decades in South Asia and the Middle East, told me. “The Baluchis are Sunni fundamentalists who hate the regime in Tehran, but you can also describe them as Al Qaeda,” Baer told me. “These are guys who cut off the heads of nonbelievers—in this case, it’s Shiite Iranians. The irony is that we’re once again working with Sunni fundamentalists, just as we did in Afghanistan in the nineteen-eighties.” Ramzi Yousef, who was convicted for his role in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is considered one of the leading planners of the September 11th attacks, are Baluchi Sunni fundamentalists.
The report would continue by stating (emphasis added):
One of the most active and violent anti-regime groups in Iran today is the Jundallah, also known as the Iranian People’s Resistance Movement, which describes itself as a resistance force fighting for the rights of Sunnis in Iran. “This is a vicious Salafi organization whose followers attended the same madrassas as the Taliban and Pakistani extremists,” Nasr told me. “They are suspected of having links to Al Qaeda and they are also thought to be tied to the drug culture.” The Jundallah took responsibility for the bombing of a busload of Revolutionary Guard soldiers in February, 2007. At least eleven Guard members were killed. According to Baer and to press reports, the Jundallah is among the groups in Iran that are benefitting from U.S. support.


The manifestation of this insidious conspiracy can be seen playing out across Syria in which US-backed terrorists openly operating under the flag of Al Qaeda are locked in a catastrophic sectarian bloodbath with the Syrian people and the Syrian state's closest ally, Iran. The conflict in Syria exposes that the machinations revealed back in 2007-2008 by Hersh, are still being carried out in earnest today.


Clearly, US-Canadian claims that Iran is somehow involved in harboring Al Qaeda within its borders, when it has been the West for years propping them up specifically to overthrow the Iranian government, are utterly absurd. In reality, while the West uses Al Qaeda's presence both within Iran and along it peripheries to undermine and ultimately overthrow the Iranian government, it in turn uses these very terror organizations to induce paralyzing fear across Western populations in order to consolidate and expand power at home.

A charity founder bought a house opposite the Westboro Baptist Church headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, so he could protest against the group and celebrate homosexuality by painting it in rainbow colors today. Aaron Jackson, 31, who founded Planting Peace which supports orphanages in the developing world, decided the paint-job would be the perfect counter protest to the organization who are known for their 'God Hates Fags' placards and anti-gay preaching. The two bedroom house, which cost $81,000, now sits proudly re-colored directly opposite the founding base of the non-affiliated group which describes itself as a 'church'.

The guerrilla protest against the Westboro Baptists is particularly fitting given their sporadic demonstrations interrupting the funerals of dead servicemen with their odd anti-gay rhetoric and chants.The small sect believe homosexuality is the root of all the world's evil and the refusal to denounce it is the cause of all tragedy, including deaths in war.Jackson says other neighbors on the street have pledged their support for his stand against the group and their perverse preaching. 'Instead of millions of children around the world getting this hate message, they're going to see this message of compassion and love,' Jackson told Gawker. Founder: Fred Phelps established the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka in 1955.
